They gave me a 2005 Chevy LS 1500 CC SB gasser to drive while they fix my truck. It only has 118 miles on it. It rides soooooo much smoother than mine. Is this A) my old (stock) shocks, B) the difference between the 1500 gasser and the 2500 HD, or C) my imagination? Going over bumps and things it just feels sooo comfortable! Thanks.

both; my 1500 rides better than my 2500, and the stock shocks suck

No offense to anybody, but this one is kind of a no brainer. The difference in ride quality is completely in the suspension, or at least 95%. They are HD's for a reason, if you compare the rear spring packs from a 2500 to a 1500 they are quite a bit heavier on the 2500. Same goes for the front, so with the stiffer spring pack your going to get a stiffer ride.

Makes complete sense, just wondered if the stock shocks were at fault. I have read a bunch about them. Does changing the stock shocks give you a smoother ride? I understand that it won't feel like the 1500 but the truck is soooo bouncy.

yeah i think a lot of guys are changing the stock shocks to something more adjustable. But I'm not exactly sure what they are changing them too. I am getting ready to add a 6" lift and I opt'd for the upgraded 6-way adjustable shock option, so we will see.

I suspect the 1500 has "B" (Standard) rated tires, whereas the 2500HD has an "E" rated tire. That also makes a difference.

Bilsteins will also make a Big difference on the 2500HD.
