I just got back from my second trip to the dealer for the weak A/C problem. I took the latest version of the A/C Accumulator TSB to the dealer when I went in, and made sure the tech was working from the same one. It worked OK on the way home from the dealer, but today colloing performance is worse than when I brought it in.

The tech replaced the accumulator, pressure switch, orifice and a seal. Here are the part numbers from the invoice:

Accumulator - 089018425
Switch - 089040362
Orifice - 003096068
Seal - 003094214

He removed the compressor and drained approx. 1 oz of oil, and recharged the system to 1.5 lbs of R134A. When I left the dealer, the outlet temp from the middle vent was 59 degrees. Today, using a meat thermometer, I cant get better than 79 degrees using recirc. air and a setting of 60 degrees in both zones.

Did the tech use the correct accumulator? The P/N from the TSB is 89018601. Should he have replaced the A/C suction hose as well? How would I know if the condenser is defective? What about recalibrating the actuators? None of these steps is listed on the invoice. Also, when the tech was pulling a vacuum on the system, he only did this for a few minutes. I've read other threads where a vacuum has been pulled for well over an hour.

Lastly, and I don't know if i makes a difference, before I took the truck in for service, I would see condensate on the ground, under the truck after I would park it. After the service, there's absolutely no condensate. Now I know it's a "dry heat" here in AZ, but what's up with that?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you either have a leak and the freon has leaked out or a piece of trash has stopped up the orifice.

It looks like they used the original accumulator, not the new one in the bulletin. The new one requires a new bracket and suction hose to the compressor.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I called the dealer yesterday morning to ask about the accumulator part number on the invoice and why it didn't match with the TSB, and as they say, I heard "the rest of the story". It turns out the tech had the proper accumulator, in his hand - ready to install on the truck, but couldn't figure out how it would fit, since it didn't quite match the original accumulator. Obviously, he didn't read the entire TSB, because that's where the bracket comes in. Anyway, he ended up replacing my original defective accumulator with a brand new, defective accumulator. I'm taking it back in this morning. The third time is the charm.

Thanks again.
