When you guy's put a 4-6" lift in these trucks, do the front ends still feel tight and drive true?

The ones I have been around felt tight. Depends on wheels and tires too though, some tires make them feel different after the lift when it really is just as good or better.

drive tru, ummm, well, it will walk a little, and allignment will be hard to get perfect, mine wont fit on an allingment rack except for big rigs, so its hard for it to get perfect, but it aint too bad, ohh, and your steering wheel will be a little crooked, and word to what nar said about stiffness

Steering wheel crooked is the sign of a sh!tty alignment. Put stock tires on it to roll onto the alignment rack. Takes a little extra time but it is worth it in the end. All lift kits can feel as good as stock if they are installed/aligned/maintained properly...

I had 3700miles on my truck when the lift was put in, so i had a pretty good idea how the truck handled on pavement and offroad. I couldnt even tell the lift was there. As far as the allignment goes, i agree with Max Payne, youve got to try something diferent to make sure that wheel is straight.

I agree totally, If your steering wheel is crooked, they XXXXed up! Plain and simple.

well i quit worrying about it, because you guys most have better techs that know what they are doing, because in wv, that is not the case, or so it seems

Tire selection, a proper alignment, and frequent balancing are the key to success when lifting our trucks. Stick with BFG, Nitto, or Toyo and you'll be fine. If you through a set of Super Swampers on there, be prepared for it to go wherever IT wants. Get the tires balanced every 6000-8000 miles and play with the air pressure to get a good wear pattern. I find that right around 34psi works well with 35 x 12.5 in tires, at least on the 6.0L trucks. We'll see on the new truck, Diesel might need more because of the added weight.

So I guess I'm saying get a good quality lift, with good tires, installed and aligned by a qualified tech and then maintain and adjust the tires regularly.

Just my $.02,

Chris

Yep, crappy tires will "Wander" and are impossible to balance.

You figure 34 psi would be about right on the Duramax? I've been running 45 front/40 rear due to what I've read--haven't seen a good answer. I'm on BFG m/t's. Maybe I should try 40 & 35--sure would ride better. My H2 was supposed to be at 37 on all four, but the weight was distributed evenly.

actually i am running my swamper ssr's with no weights, and the only vib i get is over 90mph but goes away at 97mph or so, so they ride damn good, and wander just a little bit, not to bad

Sorry I meant 34psi on the 6.0L gas engine. I think the diesel would need more up front based on the additional weight up front. It's gets tricky because rim width plays a part in it but my experience was 34 psi on the 6.0L gas engine for a 35/12.5 tire on a 17 x 9.75" rim. I don't have the DMax back from the Lift shop yet but I'll be running 35/12.5 Toyo M/T on an 18 x 10" rim. I'll post what I find in the next couple of weeks.
