yea me too. a recall is a recall but this one has i guess limits. i read it has to be 4 or 5 yrs old and or have 85k miles. idk i think its bull. plus it is gm they just want our money. id check ebay too. i know im sending mine out cuz my tach oil press and trans temp dont work they are all pegged. it cost 90 i think and like 5 for shipping. i know there are additional charges but not sure for what

I was told it wasnt a recall, but a factory extension of the warrenty. Up to 7 years, or 70 thousand miles, I think, if I remember right. I just replaced mine about 2 weeks ago. Got them off ebay. Its a very easy install, and the service is amazing. Very quick, easy, and simple. Try that if you dont have any other luck. I think the guys name is Carl Cowles. Good luck!!

i got mine fixed from a guy on ebay. relatively cheaper than buying a new cluster and having dealer program it

Before you pull your cluster,I have a 03 with crazy shit happening in the cluster also.I took all the grounds and cleaned then and added a ground strap between the bell housing bolt and there are some body bolts arond the trans that I grounded too.I have no problems anymore with the cluster. The GM's need good body grounds or they feed through the cluster.Try it before you spend the money on the cluster.

To which body bolt did you run your ground strap to? I may have to do this since I just replaced my cluster.

GM replaced mine, I was 66,000 kms (~40,000 miles) over. Just go to another dealer, tell other dealers have replaced them when over. Tell them to call GM.

I just bolted it to a bell housing bolt on the drives side that had a stud for a bracket, then I bolted the other end to one of the bolts on the body that is on the trans hump.It looks like it holds the two pieces of sheet metal together.Make the strap about 4-5 inches long for any movement. It worked for my cluster problems, but its good to know about that re-call,my truck has only 64,000 kilometers on it,I'm going to talk to a dealer and see if I should change it or wait for it to screw up again.Hope it works for you.

If you can get it changed, go for it. If its already been acting up, why not just put a new set in and be comfortasble knowing that it should all be fixed. Now that i have my new cluster in, now its time for a ground strap.

Yeah the grounds seemed to be my problem, and it wouldn't hurt to be," safe than sorry" on your truck.

If it turns out to not be a ground. (Which I am guessing) It's a simple fix, you can replace the stepper motors in side your cluster. I bought a bag of 10 stepper motors for something like $20 bucks off E-bay but I think there are a couple guy's that sell them here aswell? It only takes an hr or so to de-solder the old stepper motors out and re-solder the new ones inn.
