Anyone know how i can get this problem corrected or tell me where i would start to try & fix this.

The trans has a leak that is coming from a small 3 pronged clip on the bottom side of the bell housing. This just started this morning while on vacation i am hoping for a simple fix so i could get it home. The leak is really substantial in the fact i had to put in 3 quarts of fluid & it is dripping pretty good.

That 3 prong clip is just a dust cover. If the leak is pretty stong I would think it is a bad seal or a converter leaking at a weld.

Hey Mike,

Would i be able to get this thing home about 800 miles as long as i keep checking the fluid levels or should i bring it to the dealer? my main concern about that would be it is a suncoast trans & i dont believe they will even touch it.

Depending on the temperature sometimes the leak will slow once it's running and up to temperature. I would take a look at it by removing the dust cover with a pan under it. Once it's drained start it up and see how fast it's coming out once up to temperature. If the leak goes away I would fill it full of fluid and take a chance and head for home. Just keep an eye on it as you drive. If you see the transmission temperature climbing or feel the transmission slipping, stop and check the fluid. This is a call no one but you can make for sure.

Dont know which route your driving home, but if its on your way, you could stop at Suncoast in Ft. Walton Beach FL on Monday...

bmos37 - When did you first notice the -3 quarts? If you've been driving it for some time now like this and just noticed this you should be OK but keep an eye on fluid level say every 100 miles til you get home. As your trans is a Suncoast kit, a dealer shouldn't be able to detect this unless they know and spot the green pump gaskets.

Major leak is probably the front pump seal. Perhaps the two lower copper sealing washers were left off the bolts or installed in other locations these have been known to leak.

Thanks for all the reply's I am going to keep an eye on things on the way home. I did put a quart of lucas in to help with the seals I am just hoping it is to cold for them to warm & expand as this is the 1st sign of anything wrong with the trans & i have noticed the whole truck does not like the cold at all.

Just an update!

Made it home about 800 miles with the trans leaking pretty good, It never slipped or ran hot but i did have to put in a total of 13 quarts of fluid & whatever is the problem it is now pouring out almost as fast as going in. But i am very happy the truck did not leave me stranded in any way!:)
