Went to start my truck today after coming back from having a cat-delete pipe and finger stick installed. Finger stick was installed professionally as was the pipe. Truck runs really well, but...

Fire up the truck and no lights! No guage lights, headlights, brake lights, nothing on the dash or radio, but the radio produces normal sound. Hmmm...

I did notice that the gear select display was lit, but very dim. The indicator light for 2 wheel drive was also about half as bright as normal. The dimmer was all the way up.

So, I kill the motor. Wait a few minutes. Start it back up and same thing. Kill the motor and take out key. I then turn the headlight switch from auto to parking light mode. Now the lights come on. Dash lights, headlights, etc. Start up truck and everything is working fine. No codes or SES light at any time.

Could it be a loose connect somewhere or maybe a faulty/loose fuse?

Did your headlights come on when this occurred?

Nope not at first, but then they eventually did.

Personally, I'd be suspicious of the Edge box and it's interface to the ECM via the two connectors on the engine. A number of the controllers in the truck communicate over several data buses. The Edge box gets onto these buses. Some of what you describe is controlled by the Body Control Module (as least in the LB7 version they are, which is what I have a manual for). If this were my truck and this ocurred again, the first thing I would do is remove the Edge and check the pins in the two mating connectors. Then run for a while without the Edge box and see if it comes back.

Intermittent electrical problems are one of the worst things to try to diagnose. It's possibly a loose conection of some sort. I'd look over any of the areas that were touched by the installers to see if there are any lose connections.

interesting.. I have seen something similar to this... its happened twice and just happened again yesterday.

I drove somewhere, middle of the day.. I parked, turned off motor and opened door. The "lights are on" chime kept beeping and beeping.. I coudln't figure it out.. I moved the light switch off auto to on and back again and the chimes went off.

I see the beginnings of a short somewhere or reflash..

I had the same thing happen with the chimes continuing.. Not repeatable.. pretty intermittent.

It has not happened again...so far. I have had the Edge/Attitude in my LLY for over a year now and nothing has been touched since I installed it. It has been rock solid. I was just under the hood doing an oil change and I checked all connectors and I even went as far as making sure every fuse was fully seated. Everything checks out and no wires touching hot surfaces, etc. It sat overnight last night and started with no issues this morning before I went out to the desert to ride. It's wierd, the truck functioned normally and started ok when this problem came up, just no lights except for the really dim ones I described in the first post.
