I was coming back from Texas Thursday goin' through Wagoner, OK and could smell diesel... it smelled strong, so I pulled over & checked. There was diesel everywhere, entire engine room, under the truck & all over the back of the truck.

I couldn't see where it was comin' from it was dripping pretty good under the driver's side rear of the engine... who knows how much was comin' out under a load... it was 28 degrees out.

Went down the road & found a gas station (I'm glad it was only 1/2 mile)... asked where was a GM dealer, the guy said that way... but not sure how far... Oh great!!!

I got on the web w/Google maps (TP2 cell phone) & searched for a dealer... it said the closest was 18 miles, just what I wanted. Anyway, we started down the road in the direction of the dealer... 1 mile down the road we came upon a "GMC" dealer. Well that was a surprise. (next time I'll search better, not just "GM")

By this time it was almost 7 am and I started wondering if they would be open, with it being New Years eve & all... We waited and waited, then at 7:45 someone arrived (what a relief). He said everyone would be at work @ 8 am...

They got the truck into the workshop straight away, then I was worried what it would cost? what could be wrong? Less then 10,000 miles ago GM replaced all the fuel injectors. They wanted $4,200 to replace them! After complaining & arguing GM replaced them for free under the special Injector Policy Warranty (the truck was 1 month over the 7 years, but only 90,000 miles)

After an hour, the service manager came out & said they had found the leak and stopped it. It was a loose bolt on the fuel rail. (I was glad they didn't need a part they didn't have in stock!) They had to increase the fuel pressure with the Tech II to find it.

It only cost $83 for one hour of labor and we were on our way.

So, if anyone lives in the area or are travelling through I'd recommend this Dealer. They have one of the highest certified Duramax Diesel Technicians in the Country.

cool... good to know there was a decent dealer near by to get you up and going. hate it when I find out or have to go back and fix work I already paid to have done and wasn't done correctly.

Yes, I hate it when they can't do it right!

After they replaced the injectors, the batteries would go flat if the truck wasn't used for a week or 2 at a time. So, I replaced both batteries & it was the same??? About a month after I replaced the batteries I was checkin' the oil, started the truck to check the tranny oil and there was a small bright glow on top of the engine.

I thought what is that??? then it started to go out slowly, I thought why would they have a light/LED up there for??? I turned off the truck & went & got a flashlight to see what & where the light was... I couldn't find a light up there anywhere.

So, I started to feel around on top of the engine, I found a very hot spot. It was at the back of the alternator. The power wire comin' off the alternator was loose!

Got that fixed, then I thought I'd hav' a look around to see what else was wrong... I lent on the intercooler tube on the passenger side to see up on the engine. When I lent on it I heard a metallic clunk, I grabbed the tube & shook it... it was hitting hard on the fuel line. The fuel line had rubbed a hole almost right through.

Damn mechanics...
