Anyone know what causes this and are there other things I sould consider before changing this... I am getting this code as well as PO374 and PO700
Is it possible the secondary codes are a reflection of the sensor malfunction?

P0700 is a transmission code, nothing to do with the engine. The P0700 code is just the code from the transmission telling the truck to turn on the CEL. There's going to be more codes in your transmission that your scanner probably can't see.
