Hello All, Just picked up an 2005 Silverado 2500HD, 2WD ext cab

What kind of mileage should I get as the the miles role on?

How are they getting the 310 HP and 610 Ft LBS of tourque? Is it real
or over rated/under rated.

Is the 5 speed Alison a good upgrade?

I am now in the diesel club):h

Welcome to the site and congrats.

Mileage will vary. There is a lot of info if you do a quick search on mileage.

The HP and TQ are probably real. It's just a marketing thing. You only have that TQ in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears with the Ally. If you have the 6 speed manual the TQ is lower for all gears. Also this is flywheel torque. That don't mean didly to us. We use Rear Wheel HP and TQ numbers. They are what count.

The 5 speed Allison is the best automatic tranny out there IMHO. After seeing mine rebuilt I was very impressed and the stock allison performance is awsome. Beware the amount of power the clutches can handle is limited.

Enjoy the new ride.

I should do some baselines next week. Expect about 250-260 HP at the tires. Ran 16.19 in the quarter mile stock, with a raceweight of about 6200lb. Same day/same track, a Dodge Hemi EC/SB ran 16.5 as a best.
