I have been trying to find the answer to my question with no luck so i figured i would just ask it... As i accelerate onto the highway up to about 70 MPH only at about 40-60% throttle... i hit the range of high 1300 to low 1400.. as soon as i see that i drop throttle. i have also been trying to accelerate slower to keep that from happening but dont want to get rear ended by a semi ether

I have done the PPE Mod to my air box, it has a K&N filter and i have a 4" free flowing exhaust back to 5" stacks. i have also done the EGR block plate and i am running a evo on stage 5 Hot 1 for gas millage.

i was hoping you guys maybe had an idea of why it would be doing that? the only things i can think of from what i have read is the hot tune itself or possibly i need a lift pump or aftermarket air box. but im not sure that is true because a few of the guys on here run alot of stock stuff and have never said anything about the high egts... but then again maybe there trucks are freaks... none the less i would greatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Andy

I guess putting the tune back to stock and seeing what happens would be a start.EGTs sound a bit high but then a stock LBZ can run up fast under a good load.

[B]ThirdThird Generation Duramax Electronics They talk about how high the EGT get. Some said they had Edge go back a few versions befor the exhaust brake was but in. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168998&page=204 I know they talk about level 2 tow tune but I think all the newer tunes are hotter.

Its the tune if i run level 5 it does the same thing.. I hate level 5 I normally run 3 and the temps are not so hot. Shifts alot nicer too..

i figured that it would be the tune... i ran 3 for awhile and it took up close to 100 MPH to get the egts that hot.. im just wondering if there is a way to keep the egts low with the evo.. otherwise it looks like im going with efi

getting to 1300-1400 while accelerating is not unheard of at all. Your not in that range long enough for that heat to soak into parts like the heads and pistons.

If your really worried about it you can use less throttle position or a lower tune. I personally would run it up to the speed you want to go then let off and your EGT's will cool right back down.

I have been led to believe that the more 'tune' you add, the hotter the EGT's get or go. The guys that installed my gauges explained it to me like this. They said you can run 1275 degrees all day long but don't let them touch 1300 degrees or it will start warping the turbo blades and weaken the metals in them and the turbo life will be greatly shortened. I am not the one who made this rule I just try to keep mine under this temp. It seems awfully hot / high in temp. to me!! But I am running a different tuner set only to Tow Safe mode. I do know my 6.6 LBZ runs hotter sooner than my 7.3 Ford Powerstroke (that is hard to get to 1000 degrees) with the same tuning kit!! Good luck!! I'll be waiting to see what finally cools it down!!
