Today I installed an AFE stage2 to replace my stage1. The turbo definately doesn't whistle as loud with the stage2 and the truck smokes A LOT more. So is it flowing less air than the stage1? In theory it should flow more but with the increased smoke and nothing else being changed it appears to be flowing less. Any ideas? Same tank of fuel, same air temp.

the stageII is basically just the solid pipe versus the stock rubber one right??? I'd think it would flow more since it has less restriction then the stock tube. did you make sure the MAF sensor was plugged back in? just an idea..

yup it's plugged in...................the stage2 has a larger filter element along with the intake tube. It smokes more now than it ever did. Max PSI seems to be the same as before.

Vrs the stocker though right Tony? Daryl is comparing a stage 1(just a filrer basicly) to a full kit.

What about all out perf? Maybe the tube pisses off the MAF sensor a bit down low? At WOT with it not paying attention to the MAF then it may be better but be worse down low???

Check MAF readings with a scan tool, before(stg1) and after(stg2) readings should tell the story.

Excactly... The MAF is calibrated to read the airflow across a certain "cross section", changing the diameter that it reads in will cause it to read different. AFE has an updated filter design to help this.Check MAF readings with a scan tool, before(stg1) and after(stg2) readings should tell the story.
