: Question about upgrading TC only

Would upgrading my TC only cause the clutch packs to possibly burn up quicker? Or would only doing a TC help the tranny last?

I just dont have enough cash to do a full stage 3 or 4 build and was thinking of picking up a good TC and having a buddy install it (yes he can install them trouble free)

Opinions?

My 1056 hits pretty hard. I personally think it might make the clutches go sooner. Especially if you've limped 5th gear already.

I would hold off and do it all at once. If you have weak clutches it won't make any difference and you will be putting crap in a clean converter. Not a good idea.

Well tell me this Mike IF I were to do only one thing, either a upgraded TC or upgraded clutch packs and other components.
Which would be the best to do for tranny longevity?

I want to bring you my truck in feburary and get the whole thing done, but I dont know if Ill have enough cash by then and who knows I may sell the truck to get an AWD car

If your not going to throw a ton of power why not just do a stage 3 otherwise either your clutches or your tc will fail the one you don't replace will be the issue.

You're gonna hurt yourself by doing it at 2 different times. Either have to pay to have it taken out twice or kick your own a$$ taking it out twice! Are you doing it yourself?

Save and do it all at once. If you do the TC now the clutches will still give you problems. If you do the clutches now the converter will give you problems. Either way you've spent money and time to still have problems.
