I tend to think my EGT's are on the high side. :(:( I just hooked up my edge Juicer/ Attitude last week and Towing my 24' bumper pull enclosed car trailer. maybe 5000 # my EGT's at 70 mph were in the high 900 1000. 1100 or so when passing someone on a flat road at sea level.. Does that sound high to you guys

Right or not, I don't know but it is very close to what I always see.

Just curious; what level was the Juice set on?

It ran the same from the stock setting up till level 2. Now if I was to do an exhaust How much would that lower it. I also pulled a car 80 miles yesterday day in the same trailer and loaded and unloaded the EGT's were around the same . The car is a 3500# car also..

A larger exhaust, especially without the CAT, should normally yield EGT reductions of approximately 100*-200*. It will also increase turbo spoolup and improve mpg's. While you are not towing very heavy, you may find yourself towing into elevations/grades where EGT's may peg much higher on some climbs.
IMHO an upgraded exhaust should accompany any tuner/programmer additions. :exactly: Money well spent! ;) JJ's .02 cents worth. JJ :)
I'm running about the same temps your getting pulling a 28' trailer with 6 bikes in it.

As long as you don't sustain it 1350 is ok for a short duration. Any thing more than that and you will have a melt down.

I towed a 13,500 lbs trailer to CA from OK and on long grades or steep grades I saw egt's at 1400 deg sustained for several seconds. It seemed as if it would not go any higher than that. I had several times this happened.
I have the original juice on level 2 with 4" exhaust system. On one very long grade between Kingman, AZ and Bakersfield the engine temp climbed from about 210-215, where is usually stays, up to about 230 and the trans temp went up with it. Since the trans is cooled with engine coolant that would be about normal. The temp of both are never very far apart from each other. The outside air was about 94-95 deg. During this time the trans was still in OD although speed had dropped about 4-5 mph. I pushed the OD lockout button and let the trans shift out of OD and the rpm go up and it eventually begin to cool down. THIS ENTIRE TIME I WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL. This truck will pull it self to death it seems before it will shift out of OD. The speed has to drop 5 mph before it will shift out of OD.
All the mularky about the cummins and it high torque and pulling power is just that, mularky. The Dmax just refuses to quit, just like an old mule.

i wonder how accurate these gauges are at those temps. i have the setup by dakota digital which is a real respected company by hot rodders and when pulling my fifth up mountain passes of 8 percent grade my averages around 1350 to 1450 with peaks of 1500 degrees. these averages last for 30 to 45 minutes. im told these temps with ruin an engine but it seams to have had to effect on mine as of yet. my motor is compeletly stock.

I wonder the same........
I see 1425 with the autometer cobalt egt gauge on the right manifold, and the attitude probe is in the left manifold. the Attitude is ALWAYS 50-70 degrees cooler than the autometer. I turn off my power settings because I can hit 1500+ degrees if I stay in it and it's not worth the extra 3-5 mph.

trans is NOT cooled through radiator, it has its own separate cooler. my trans will only get to 200 degrees in stop and go traffic at 95 degrees outside (unloaded) engine temp never breaks 200. so on the interstate my engine is under 200 and trans usually at 150 until i hit stop and go traffic. as far as egts ive heard on here that 1350 sustained is ok anything above you dont want to do. ive also heard that 1900* wont hurt either but youd only want to do that for about 11 seconds):h for what its worth the highest ive ever gotten my egts with Hot juice on level 2 was 1050 power braking it
