Hi, I'm looking at getting a crew cab diesel, long bed. I've seen that in 2004 they switched engine codes. I know they're the same displacement engine.

I just wanted to know if there a difference in the two engines? Is one better than the other? I need to know quickly as I may just take advantage of the GM deal currently offered. Thanks.

Two things come to my mind is the LLY has a VVTurbo (no wastegate) and the injectors are on the outside of the valve covers unlike the lb7. The LB7 still is king as far as power after mods but the LLY is closing fast. Also the LLY is more environmentally friendly.
