I am new to the diesel world so bear with me if this is a stupid question. Why is it that all of exhaust systems offered are slip-on and secured with a clamp instead of bolting together with gaskets and flanges? On my play car the exhaust is broken up into 4 sections (downpipe, midpipe or cat delete, x-pipe and mufflers with tails) that all bolt together. It makes removal and /or working on the car much easier as I can unbolt just 1 section if I need to.
Again, forgive the newbie question, just searching for knowledge.

Because the kit on your mustang must be precisely fit. You don't have much room under there. The truck kits on the other hand have much more room to spare, and it keeps costs down by just having slip fit pipes. I weld all my pipes except for one joint that will allow me to take it back down if necessary.
Some advice.. Use stainless band clamps for your exhaust instead of the regular style clamps. The band clamps will allow you to take it back off.. Once you clamp the other style down, it's there to stay. Unless you cut slits in it with a die grinder to allow it to expand back.

true, but not only that- most of the exhaust systems sold for diesels are for multiple wheel bases..fits several different trucks so they make it easy and just make them slip fits. most kits fit the single cab, ext cab, crew cab, dually, etc, etc, etc...you can also remove a specific section if you want with no problem.
the best clamps I have used I got from Jegs..they are chrome reducer clamps and will seal the joints of teh slip fits while clamping them plus look good.
