I have an '03 D/A CC/SB with Edge Juice w/ Attitude, K & N air filter (newly installed) for modifications. I tow doubles that weighs approx. 15K. I have not towed doubles with these mods so I don't know what my EGT's will be. Has anyone just changed out the stock muffler with a free flowing aftermarket & how does it work or do I have to buy the 4" aftermarket exhaust? I don't want a loud system or one with any drone. I want to just keep the EGT's down to a manageable level. If you could let me know which muffler or exhaust system you have installed & the pro's or con's of it, I would greatly appreciate it before I go out spending excessive amount of $$$.

So you have the LB7.. unlike the guys with the LLY's you can do upgrades with no problems at all. You are already with no cat unless its a CA truck so sure you can just buy the muffler and it will in fact lower your EGT's, but of course doing the entire system in 4" or something would be most beneficial.
I sold my complete exhaust kit to a buddy with an LB7..he says the temps are down 200 degrees which is about normal(was same on my truck) and he gets 90 more miles to a tank.

Like Briano said, if its not a CA truck then you have no cat. I would just go for the complete upgrade to a 4in system. I have a CA truck with a BANKS cat-back system and just "upgraded" with a MBRP frontpipe. Very nice performance and low temps.
It will be worth the $ and you will be gald you did it.
