I just replaced my coolant. Welll.....I drained the radiator, topped off, and ran the truck for a couple of days, making sure to keep an eye on the coolant tank so it doesn't get low.
Anyway, I have had no problems, but wondered if there is a "burping" method common to the LB7 duramax.
Thanks, TIM

i just run mine about 1700rpm for a min or two, that'll push the air out of the heatercore and the radiator. Worked everytime for me.

Here's the filling procedure from 2002 Helms:
-Fill system throught expansion tank, with premixed 50 to 60% solution, to a level slightly above tank split line.
-Start engine.
-Idle engine 1 minute.
-Loosen tank cap. Do not allow the system pressure from building.
-Vary engine idle in 30 second intervals, until coolant temp reaches operating temp and the thermostat opens.
-Stop engine.
-CAREFULLY and SLOWLY remove tank cap. Avoid the hot coolant.
-Start engine.
-Idle for 1 minute, then fill tank level to 1/2 inch above cold full mark.
-Install tank cap, and cycle idle until at coolant operating temp.
-Monitor tank level over the next several cool-downs, and fill tank as necessary.

There is a 12mm bolt on the top of the thermostat housing that you can loosen to let air out.

That'd be the best way, imo. The thermostats most likely wont open unless you let the truck run for 1/2 hour or more. even then my truck doesnt heat up past 180*. I let my truck idle and keep the tank full. then test drive it, run it hard, and refil the system. . . done.
