Well I installed my blocker plate the other day....what a PITA!!!! Well anyways after much swearing, blood, sweat, and tears its in there!! http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif Only way I could get it in there was to cut the tab off the lower stud on the plate cuz it keep hitting on the cooler!!?? Another question do you to unplug the egr valve after you put the blocker plate in???? The quad is suppose to block the codes right?? I unplugged it and no codes on the truck (http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/#) but my banks kept showing a tuner fault of egr position (of course) ?? So what do I do now????? http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0085.gif

No need to unplug. I do not know the Quad and what they do to turn off if they disable the EGR and then turn off the needed DTC codes or what. But from the looks the ECM is still looking at info from the EGR so I just plug it back in.

So if you plug the EGR back in the banks no longer complains? Maybe quad can write a custom tune for you or maybe find someone with EFILive to fix it so the Banks would not complain is all I can think of.

how do u determine wether or not you need a finger stick with a blocker plate, i got a 06 lbz 360hp motor and wanting to block it, also does the bullydog power pup cancel the code if their was one?

also got a lmm wanting to do the same with, are they the same plate or different for the both of them?

Different plates I am pretty sure. All LBZ would use the finger stick unless the programmer can handle it. No finger stick for the LMM . Only a programmer that can handle EGR Blocker plate setup will work. Need to call bully dog to see if it can be cancelled. I would think there be an option in the list if it can be done. If not in the list contact bully dog and see if it can be added. If not then get a finger stick for the LBZ or get a programmer that can. If you you do not have a programmer for the LMM and not worried on no warranty since that be the only way to get rid of the EGR codes I would do the following. Check with some of the EFILive tuners here and see if they set you up with a tune for both LBZ and LMM when you purchase the Flashscan V2 through them. It cost you a little more for this than a tuner for the LMM and a fingerstick for the LBZ but un marry the bully dog and sell it and you probably break even. Get DSP5 tune for both and then change between 5 tunes on the fly. Only one I dealt with is Nick from Duramaxtuner.com

Please get me up to speed here. Why do people want to remove the EGR, what will it do for the truck? Is it required to remove the DPF? HELP.

The EGR just recirculates exhaust gas back into the intake so one gets soot build up and lots of times if you run higher HP tunes you get more soot and causes the EGR valve to stick or may need replaced. It just codes when it fails.

Thanks Tanc Crusher for the info. Now can any one tell me if a Edge CTS Race for my LMM will delete the EGR? Thanks again.

The Race automatically does it...

Yeah I've been putting off doing mine too. Found a shop local to me that will do them, but it's kind of pricey. Guess I'll tear into it once the weather clears up one of these weekends

Gracie31, we're practically neighbors.

Ive done 2 on LBZ's and they were a bit of a pain. Tough to break those bolts loose.

its definitely a PITA...but once you know how to do it, its not that bad. If I had to do another one it wouldn't take nearly as long. Thanks to Tanc for the help. Just be sure to use a pry bar on a 12 mm wrench to break the top one and a cheater pipe on a socket for the bottom one

After seein some of the pics on what the intake looks like all sooted up I am puttin a BIT more priority on gettin this done on my lmm which just rolled 100k mi. Re-routed the pvc but 90k of egr and pvc hooked up has me worried. Cant imagine what that does to performance!? Anyone have a way to clean the intake runners WITHOUT pullin the intake and heads? I heard water/meth injection works well, bu dont wanna buy and install one JUST to clean my runners.

i have heard that once you block the egr that the oil mist from the pvc will clean the intake eventually...i have 80k on my truck when i installed the blocker and have been thinkin about water/meth but a lift pump is next on the to do list
