: Rear Flip down screen is blank
windowbarn 12-23-2009, 12:17 PM Decided to start a new thread on this, really needing some help. Have a LMM truck that has the navigation/dvd with the rear entertainment system. Anyway everything works great except the rear dvd flip down screen is completely blank. The infared control module has all those red lights on. Also the dome lights work too but for some reason the screen is completely blank with nothing on. Any help would be greatly appreciated
caedenspa 12-23-2009, 03:07 PM If you put a DVD in the slot, can you view it on the Nav screen (while parked, of course!)?
My flip-down is blank unless something is being played in the DVD, which makes sense - no need for rear passengers to have the Nav info on the flip-down. It's only active when a DVD is being played.
Also, if it's been playing and you turn off the engine, you have to go in and re-start the DVD player.

I am experiencing the same exact thing...someone that has both nav and dvd player please chime in and help us out....could it be that both are defective? Are we doing something wrong?
The NAV screen shows the movie when not moving, but I'm getting nothing on the back screen...not even a backlight.

Nothing will be displayed if there is no dvd...not even the nav screen will display on the RSE screen. What we are saying is that we do have DVD's in the head unit, they are playing, but nothing is coming over the rear screen.
windowbarn 12-23-2009, 06:40 PM Yes, the dvd plays perfectly in the front, no problems.
I also got some connector diagrams. There is a connector for the rear dvd system on top of the dash by the drivers side underneath that grill cover. Anyway I hooked up a test light and there is only voltage on the pin for the infra red module supply voltage, all the other 11 pins have no voltage, which include the: left dvd audio signal+ and -, Dvd audio common, dvd audio shield, etc.
I also took out the navigation/radio and found the connector for the rear dvd system, unplugged it, left all the other plugs on, and put a test light on the terminals and there was nothing there either. Not sure if I'm doing that right or not. I tried testing this with the ignition on and also while playing a dvd. Any help would sure be appreciated as I'm kinda stumped.
It's almost like something is blocking it from going out of the navigation/radio?? Or else the radio is bad.

Man...Im perplexed...Take it to the dealer...you paid a lot for your truck, so let them fix it under warranty. Thats what I am going to do....I work at one and can get a loaner, but hate taking it in!
windowbarn 12-23-2009, 06:55 PM Mine's got no warranty and besides the dealer is out till monday, or I would just take it in. Figured I could maybe figure something out but It might be a lost cause
txdutt 12-23-2009, 09:18 PM never had any issues with mine, is there a separate fuse that runs the RSE screen???
Shasta 12-23-2009, 10:36 PM I rented a brand new suburban a couple of months back that had the RSE and had a similar problem. The kids in the back seat kept jackin' around with the remote, and then finally pushed something on the controller (SRCE button maybe?) on the back of the console and it came to life...
HTH
windowbarn 12-24-2009, 09:52 AM Yes there is a fuse, number 45 in the underhood fuse block. Mines good though
bartman 12-24-2009, 06:55 PM Had the shop take a quick look at mine...#19 fuse in the in cab fuse block (5 amp) was blown...put another one in and it blew right away too...obvious short somewhere down the line, so they will have to chase it on Monday.
windowbarn 12-28-2009, 10:39 AM For some reason our truck doesn't even have a fuse in the #19. I was hoping maybe that was the problem but guess not.
1320ms 03-02-2011, 08:54 PM Sorry to bump an old thread, but Did you ever find out where that short was? Mine is doing the same thing and is out of warranty now, would rather not pay the dealer to diagnose it.
