Im new to working on diesel engines. I have 99 chevy 3500 hd 6.5 2wd dually rear 85k miles showing code p0236. not sure where to look for the wastegate sol. or turbo sensor. the engine light is on but the truck still seems to run o.k (no noticeable problem) anyone have any advice?? thanks

if you check this link, it will describe the steps to diagnose that code

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=292036

as well as this one

that first one is a write-up I did following the purchase of my truck, and subsequent issues with a wastegate solenoid. I need to borrow a camera and take pictures, I know that'll be my holiday project.

wastegate sol. > if the vacuum is good.

DieselPro makes a good point as usual, I believe my write up goes through that, but be sure to make sure the vacuum pump is putting out adequate vacuum. around 23-28 IIRC?

Pete, you really need to get those voltages into your Diagnostic!

I finally figured it out! but thanks for the links, it was still nice to go over them and double check everything. this place is great, I take care of 15 chevy 3500hd's with the 6.5 and I can use all the help I can get. They are pretty easy for the most part but being new to them I still need advice now and again....... thanks again

I replaced the wastegate solenoid and the engine light turned off. everything seems to be running well, no power loss. vacuum is good
