I am going to put on some 295s in the next few weeks. I would like my speedo/odo to read correct. Rest of truck is stock and will stay that way until the "boss" releases more funds... Is my only option a tuner or do they still make speedo plugins like they used to for 4x4s? Are there any that are cost effective, will adjust tire size, and not kill my tranny. I have been trying to read all these posts in this section, but man there is a lot of info to try and dig through. From reading it looks like the Hypertech is the way to go. Some of the other manufacturer sites dont even mention tire size changes... Any advice from the smoking section?

Predator or Hypertech for sure....dunno if superchips changes it for you or not...

Ok, I couldnt find anything on the predator site that mentioned tire size. How are those programmed? It looks like its an inline module from the website. Heck the install video showed nothing in cab or no way to adjust anything...it just showed a plug in module.

The predator programmer is a handheld device just like the hypertech is (except the predator has "hotter" programs in it)

Ok, just found this:
http://www.diablosport.com/GMPredDiesel.php
I had not seen this or this website yet so I have more reading.

So what is this predator:
http://www.predatorpower.com/chevy.htm

Two products with the same name?

the diablosport unit is the one that most of us here are running Tex..
I have yet to hear of anyone running the "other" predator in-line module...

I run the Bully Dog Power Pup and love it. It will reset speedo for larger tires and clear codes. Also remove speed limiter if the need be. :ro)

Mark (TexMudder),
When I added 285's to my truck the dealer was able to re-program the computer to correct the tire size. I've heard mixed opinions on this site about whether the dealer can really do this or not. I've since added the Predator to my truck and programmed the tire size for 285's with the Predator and my speedo to rpm ratio is exactly the same as it was before. The truck speedo also still matches up with my Edge J/A speedo so I would have to say that the dealer did successfully re-program the computer for my 285's. My dealer did this for free so if all you're trying to do is correct the speedo, that might be a route to try. That said, I'm very happy with the Predator (Diablo Sport) due to the power increase, the ability to program tire size, and the ability to read and reset trouble codes. Definitely $350 well spent imo!

Take care man. BTW, we're going to go play submarine with the 4 wheelers tonight. I haven't been riding in months (too hot), so hopefully the bikes hold up!

I have the Hypertech in my 05 and love it. I have a 6' lift with 35s and it let me program for the change in tire size. It has three settings and takes 5 minutes to make any changes.
