Does anyone know why all my lights (both interior and exterior) flicker for a couple seconds after startup? Not completely on and off but noticeable. Is there a problem with the truck?

Maybe the glows plug module kicking in or the Intake heater too.

A thread has been started on this just below yours. Something is wrong we just don't know what. Check it out.

I had my lights flicker while driving,it was the ground strap from the engine to the body near the hood.It seems like these trucks need a good ground or they find a ground through something else.It also would shut my cruise off when they flickered.

I spoke to my dealer about this again and he finally found a tsb on it. The problem is the glow plugs cycling after startup.

Mods--I answered both threads to make them complete.:D

I guess we're stuck with it. Unless there is a way to change the gp cycling in EFILive, I can't see this ever getting resolved. Thanks for the answer Brian, you hit the nail on the head, I just wanted to hear it from the General.;)

It has been observed that the alternator does not start charging until the glow plugs are done. So if you are seeing the lights dim while the glow plugs cycle I would say it is an indicator to a weak battery. While there may be plenty of life in them, they may be just weak enough that you see the cycle happening in the lights.

If that is what happens during startup then I can agree with that. Those batteries suck bad in these LMMs. Done replaced mine already.

Check my sig.;) I doubt batteries are my problem when 1 of mine is almost what 2 stockers are rated.

I just sold mine and they did that from when I owned it till I sold it. Really never got a answer out of anyone as to why. I know it never seemed to affect anything so....
