Can anyone help?
I've installed the speedbrake and I'm having the same problem as the guy here:
http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/04-5-05-lly-performance-parts-discussion/28748-banks-speed-brake-lly-not-working.html
The speedbrake engages the next gear in the transmission and shows the VGT output cycling from 0-100%. The braking is barely perceptible without the tow/haul mode engaged. I've checked all the pins in the connectors and uploaded new firmware. No difference.
Banks suggested this was an aggressive product, but it barely holds the empty truck back at 50MPH downhill. It's been 30 degrees below zero and it won't brake the back tires loose when it's on 100%. I've tried changing settings and changing the order the connectors are installed in, but nothing. I'm still talking to the Banks Tech department, so we'll se what that brings.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Jason.

What version number is on your six gun?

I'm going to have to figure that out. I unhooked the tuner, to see if it was interfering with the speedbrake, and the PDA won't recognize the speedbrake. I don't know why yet. I'm going to have to go backwards and see if I have to plug it in to a different port when no tuner is installed...
The Tuner version is 2.3, the firmware is whatever is on the banks site as of last week. Part number 63886.
The brake version is 1.21. Same deal with the firmware. Part number 55428.
Both were purchased directly from Banks.

Firmware versions 2 and 5 for the tuner and brake respectively.

When did you purchase the kit? Did it come with a PDA?

OMFG Are you kidding?
So thing one. Don't forget to check all of the connectors before you test drive. I must have forgotten to plug in the small 2-wire connector under the dash. Or I pulled it out when I was trying to tuck everything back together.
If the speedbrake is working marginally better than the stock setup it's not working. In my case it was in a protection mode that shuts down the output... apperantly. (I may have made that up so it makes sense in my mind.)
Thing 2. And don't take this lightly... DO NOT take your first test drive on snow with the brake on high. Shocking is the description I'll use. The 4wd helped but if I had it in 2wd I'd have come inside for a change.
On the low setting if takes about half the distance to stop as I would normally use with the hydraulic brakes, empty. On Med, it's uncomfortably powerful, empty.
This thing really stops. Seriously I may have to turn it off for the winter.
Banks Tech support. Nicely done. The second email I got was "sounds like the two wire connector under the dash isn't connected..."
So I may not need a tuner... but I needed one of these. This thing is cool.

I don't use mine when the truck is empty. The difference in braking is unbelievable.
I haul a scissor lifts from work and while they are small in size, I usually have two on the trailer and they weight anywhere from 3000#-6000# each. Also pull a 38' Raptor toyhauler. Really makes it much nicer when the truck is loaded down.
Now that I have the IQ display it is MUCH easier to switch it on or off depending on the situation.

Matt
