: Fabtech HD Steering Parts
LBZrcks 06-09-2005, 07:07 PM Finally got my Fabtech Tierods and Tierod Ends, and had time to put them on with the Fabtech Pittman and Idler arm. Steering does feel a whole lot tighter and more responsive. That could also be do to the fact that my original tierod ends were looser than a goose. Was surprised that my Pittman and Idler arm were still good, but still put on the fabtech ones because they are beefier and they have a little drop in them, forgot to measure how much it dropped. Here are some pics of the Tie rods and ends.

BiteMe 06-09-2005, 07:22 PM Was the install pretty straight forward? I have been thinking about going with that exact setup myself.
Also (if you don't mind) about how much were the parts?

LBZrcks 06-09-2005, 07:26 PM The install was pretty easy took about an hour to an hour and a half to remove and install everything. Got the parts through Transamerican/4wheelparts since my buddy has a wholesale account with them.

BLACKDMAX 06-27-2005, 04:41 PM Wonder if these will work with a RCD lift. Anyone using these with anything other than Fabtech lift. ??

supatrucka 06-27-2005, 04:51 PM Are those better than SD sleeves. dave
BLACKDMAX 06-27-2005, 04:59 PM They look really big. I think they are a different option to the SD sleeves. I am probably going to get a set as I have the originals going bad and dealer wants same price for stock as I can purchase the Fabtechs from the 4WD store. .
I also have a set of the SD sleeves for sale. Brand new $125.00 Any body needing a set let me know.

gonemax 06-27-2005, 09:52 PM try www.bulletproofsteering.com (http://www.bulletproofsteering.com) imo the best by far
LBZrcks 06-27-2005, 10:15 PM It will work with an RCD Lift, It will work on even a stock truck, I chose these over the SD sleeves because I wanted a beefier Tierod end aswell. So far so good, I took my truck out to the mud yesterday, had the front end burried in a ditch trying to pull my buddy out and didn't break anything. The only thing that I am afraid of breaking now are my little half shafts or whatever there called, the ones that go to the front wheels.

My buddy has these, Not trying to knock anyone's stuff but there is a few things I personally don't like about them. The heims can wear out after a while, on my friends truck the stud attatched to the heim broke off, I guess due to fatigue maybe. You have to know how to measure really good when you order them, when you order they ask you the length you need and the angle of drop between the center link and the spindle. On his truck they make his center bar flex like its going out of style. Put it is pretty much rock solid though. The main factor that stopped me from purchasing them was the price.

HOOKEM 06-28-2005, 02:46 AM I will be getting my Fabtech upgrades put on this week, along with the bell crank housing from Super Steer and 35" BFG's
skinny 06-29-2005, 12:21 AM New parts look great!!:ro) Is there any difference in length vs. stock? Basically, do you see any reason the would not fit on a non lifted truck?
Thanks
noreaster 06-29-2005, 12:31 AM You can find aftermarket tie-rods for less than what the stealer will charge.
IIRC stealer was $100 approx. each, bought 2 for $110 from Napa.
I really put a test to the SD sleeves a few weeks ago, 4wd launch at 22 psi with torsion bars raised up & didn't break nothing.
HOOKEM 06-29-2005, 02:52 AM These components will fit a nonlifted truck with no issues (tierods and dual steering stabilizer).
noreaster 06-29-2005, 09:26 AM Single stabilizer on a non-lifted truck.
Does anyone know if the Fabtech Pittman and Idler arm will work on a non-lifted truck?
freyguy 07-14-2005, 10:11 AM Yes they will. I have them on mine and all I have done is cranked up the front. You also have to install their steering stabilizer with the parts. It's included in the kit. My only warning is that the kit does reduce your steering radius some. I believe that it does this to prevent the idler/pitman from hitting the frame causing them to wear out faster. Makes for even worse u-turns, but the parts are so beefy, it's not that bad to live with.

:thankyou2 You just saved me some money. I don't want to lose any turing radius. I have enough trouble trying to park as it is. I'm just trying to stop the Centerlink from rotating on 4wd launches. I know the SD centerlink will fix that, but will also cause me to lose turning radius.

I just put a single fabtech stabilizer on a non lifted dually. I was told that the dual stabilizer would only work with the lift kit. I would really like to have the dual stabilizers if that is not the case.

After some deliberations about the single vs duel, I just had the single put on. Did some research and the benefits of the duel were mainly limited to cosmetic appeal over function.
THUNDERUSONE 07-23-2005, 08:49 PM I cant tell any difference from the stocker to the fabtech.
