I think I may have read a thread on this before but on some bumpy roads or some even spots, my Dually (unloaded of course) makes a bunch of racket in the rear. Is this the leaf springs?? I still have stock shocks on it at 70k. I am planning on switching to Bilsteins soon, but I am still worried about all the rear noise. Any help?? :help:

OK.....got the rubber rings but I only installed them from the rear side. Front clearance was too small. The kit came with 4. Should I force them on the front side as well???

I would get a pry bar an get them on the front, if there is any gap at all you will get the spring slap. Many just take larger bumps. 95% of my spring slap problems were fixed using the installing the GM rubber caps and the rubber exhaust rings on my 1 ton.

RVC, did you use both the GM rubber caps and the big O rings? Can you describe your setup in more detail? Thanks.

On my 3/4 ton and 1 ton I have the GM rubber caps on the lowest leaf (thickest) in the spring pack. 3/4 ton spring slap fixed. One my 1 ton, I then put the rubber O-rings between the the overload leafs to prevent them from slapping on each other. The only time there is a slap now is if I'm loaded light and the overloads have not come into contact with the frame stops yet. Bumps then may cause the overload leafs to slap against the frame stops.

Are the overload leafs the top ones then?? I put my o-rings on the bottom leaf.

I guess on a 3/4 ton the bottom leaf is considered the overload spring. I have always referred to the top leafs on the 1 ton pack as the overload leafs.

Found these picks here on the fourm. This is how my 3/4 and 1 ton look with the GM rubber caps. I then put the O-rings between the top two leafs on the 1 ton.
