Im considering getting this truck to replace my current 2500hd 6.0 being new to duramax what is some key things to consider?
I do plan on towing my boat a ski boat and nothing bigger and probably upgrade the lift a little taller as my last truck was pretty big. Engine wise this has 114k and its a 05 with a fabtech lift and 35's I am told it has the lt1 package?
Heres the truck

Nice rig ,I would keep it as is ,looks really good .Some 05s are overheaters but that can be fixed, there are also some issues with the injector harness that can be easily taken care of. other than that they are fairly reliable.

maybe just me, but 22k seems a bit high, I would think more around 17-19k since it don't have leather and all of that, if your buying from a dealer or lot maybe about right, from an individual could get a little bit cheaper, but I am a cheap a$$. Very nice looking truck though.

I agree with mileage and options i would think you couldget it cheaper. Especially since you are going to have to fix the dash cluster. Looked like on one of the pic's it was broken and stuck on about 70mph. Other than that sweet truck, will do everything you are looking for and then some.

Get them to cut the price. Nice truck though. These trucks are great (LLY), but I am bias. Bought my 04.5 used with 40k miles for 22k and immediatlly put EFI live on it and the truck can do anything. Mountain trips, towing, daily driver and oh yea it's the faster of my 3 trucks. Ran some 9.60's (8th) spining in 4 gears on a tow tune.

Ya i would go for it. That is a good looking truck and I have not been disappointed in my LLY yet. I agree that if you add EFI life you will love it. I have been very pleased. I went from a 06 f150 with a 9 inch lift and 37s"fully loaded" to this and i have no regrets even if I am still only sitting on 33s

well the white truck is a no go they would not budge from his asking price so now Im lookin at this one. Its an 04.5 with the LLY 130k on the clock its from a dealer in Sacremento the only thing I can see wrong with it in the pics is the front airdam seems to be jacked and is missing the front fogs. Can anyone tell me the mods it appears to have? I think its a fabtech lift I am unsure if thats a 6" or 8" and the tire size. it looks to have a intake and exhaust of some kind and the interior looks pretty clean they are asking the same price of 22k Heres some pics

Well I guess it is sort of our job to pick it apart for you so let me help you.

Tires, judging by the photos it kind of looks like they're on their last legs. Thats got to be good for another thousand or so off the top or else get them to re-shoe it before you drive away.

130K, unless the batteries have already been replaced you're going to be traeading on borrowed time. Mine gave out last month finally and they were stockers with 169K miles on them.

Other than that, just start pulling the wheels to see if anything else is loose. Then if you buy change everything to synthetic. Or better yet, have them do your first oil change to synthetic for you.

Oh yeah, and the white one had tow mirrors and the black one doesn't. Forgot that.

Thank you I really appreciate everyones input on this! I know the tires do look worn but I'm looking into putting some different wheels and tires as well as the 06 towing mirrors, amp steps, and a few other things. Just to make it mine.

my opinion would be stay away from a truck that has been lifted already, and they are asking way too much for both

carter_44

price is too high on both. i would also look very closely at a truck that was previously tuned and lifted. exhaust, gauges, intake etc. are pretty sure signs that it might have been hot rodded and already had a tune. i would find a stock truck and then add what you want. find an old guy that kept one garaged and bone stock and babied it.

here is a dmax for sale kinda local. 58K miles, lifted with some toys and the asking price is about 19K. i only did a quick search and found a better deal. keep looking...with the economy the way it is you can find deals. for a 05 or 06 dmax with over 100k the asking price better be closer to 15k or i would laugh in the guys face.

i picked up my 03 less than a year ago for $9500.

I don't know your local market down there so I'm not really in a positon to say to much, but if multiple opinions say the same thing.

Have a look on craigslist and what not and see what you can find privately. You may be able to "make" your own truck for less than buying one of these and it may have less miles on it.

The market here in CA is still more than other states there is one I found with minimal stuff done to it just an intake, stereo and a leveling kit with only 50k miles that sold for 31K in a weekend. but Ive been all over CL and other sites Im currently also trying to either sell my mercedes or trade it in on one of these trucks if the deal is right.
So does anyone think this is a 6" lift on 35's? or is it bigger?

Well, now I would have to agree with the other guys. Did a quick search of craigslist...

If it was my money, this is the one I'd be looking at.
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/1525221961.html

Its an 06 CCSB in Sacremento that sounds like its lived a fairly reserved life. The person put the VIN in the ad even.

Then there's this one:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/1526655852.html

The only thing about this one though is that its an 04 so if it was me I'd want to find out if it was an LLY or an LB7.

Those two were just what I found in a couple of minutes. I'm sure if you did some digging on there you'd find stuff thats even better. Sure the other trucks may have the lift kit and the tire package already, but it did belong to someone else before so what did they do or in some cases (in a bad way) not do to it?
