i have a noise in my dash that i thought was the iis shaft. I did the silicon fix and it made the stearing much tighter but i still have the noise. I have torn the whole dash apart even removing the gauge cluster and the noise is still there. I have gone threw the entire front including body mounts. The noise happens on uneven grounds and bumpy roads AND IM ABOUT TO FLIP!!!!!!! Now the truck is saying service air bag soon, is that from me messing with the iis shaft. Where are the conecters for air bag control? Could i of knocked something loose? please help

This is what I did: used syn. grease and coated the stearing shaft under the dash near the knuckle joint. used 2 - 12" tie wraps, around the shaft below the knuckle joint and secured it to a brace under the dash near the fuel pedal. I was looking for the noise one day and was able to get hold of the shaft and it moved ever so little but produced a LOT of noise. I binded the tie wraps with just enough force to stop the shaft from moving in an up and down motion thus eliminating the dash noise. I have been driving my truck like this for 3 weeks now with no more noise.
I also took the same grease and applied it on the rubber seals where the doors make contact. I now have a truck that is squeek and rattle free. I have been enduring these squeeks and rattles ever since I bought the truck new in 2007. I have around 45,000 miles on the odo. Hope this helps.

The lamp is from not tying the steering wheel to prevent rotation. You've broken the $250-$300 clockspring Assy (SIR coil) in the upper column.
