hi , i was thinking of puting marine injectorsin my 6.5 suburban, has anybody done this? if so how do you like it,im told itll add about 40 hp to my engine.
thanks

40 HP is a pretty big claim on injectors only, marine or not. I don't see it happening even with my mods plus adding 18:1 pistons and an IC i still don't see it with injectors alone but more experienced members may say different.

I think you may make a small marginal gain on power, but fuel delivery is where you will make your power at. That is in the injection pump.

what year is your suburban? with the marine injectors you will see an increase in opening pressure which is said to be both good and bad. the marine injectors have the ability to inject more fuel, but the pump is what meters fuel. if you have an old mechanical pump than i would say go ahead and do it because gettin more fuel is easy, but with the electronic your gonna have to spend some more money to get more fuel.

personally i dont think they are worth the money cause the stock injectors can flow a lot of fuel. but thats just my .02

I heard with marine injectors you have to worry about floating the valves.

DieselPro, I don't get that one at all. I thought that rpm or simply time was what made valves float (due to lack of spring pressure).

:) :) Need to work on your sense of humor. Marine - Float , get it? :) :)

I'm considering new injectors for my 6.5TD. What kind of hp and tq figures can stock injectors support? I was also considering the marine injectors. But from what I, have read in the past post it doesn't sound as if they would be that beneficial. I'm running mechanical IP and I' ve heard they are easy to turn up the fuel on though. I would like to eventually add a IC. But I, need injectors now.

Rebuild your stock injectors, if you have a 4911 inj. pump, it will supply more fuel than you can get air to. I ran my hot rod 6.5 with 6.2 injectors and a 4911 pump, lack of fuel was never an issue.;)

WOW, forgive me DP, that one went right over my head. My only excuse is that it was late and I am a little bit Irish. :o:

Marine injectors "pop" at higher pressure. Therefore, better fuel atomization. Better burn equals more power and better fuel economy.

"Marine" injectors also use a mechanical injection pump with better pumping ability to pop those injectors. The pressure does not make them atomize better in this application. The marine injector will not incresase horsepower in an otherwise stock motor.

What about if you install a set of propane injectors? Will that help?

Only if you want to fry your engine.

I dont know what worse floating the valves or frying you engine
