I noticed that my air restriction guage was about 1/2 to 3/4 in the red.

I have an AFE progard 7 or what ever the latest filter is that's been on for less than a year, so I figure I should clean it so I buy the AFE cleaner and oil.

So about a week ago I clean it nice nice, and I let it dry out over night, reoil it and put it back on the truck, and I reset the guage.

I checked the restriction guage the other day and it's back to 1/2 red so I reset it again and I check it again tonight and it's back at about 1/2 in the red.

So I'm guessing that the engine is just sucking more air than the filter can supply.

Is anyone else noticing this on their truck's that have a AFE and a big program?

Or do you think I might have a bad filter ?

I don't think I overoiled it, I haven't gotten any MAF codes.

I threw that filter restrictor gauge away.............:eek:

I can tell by the whistle when the filter needs some cleaning..........):h

Just have two and swap them out whenever you feel the need..........:cool:

BTW..........how do you know that thing even works...........:D

I forgot to mention I got a AFE sock over the filter too :rolleyes:

Since I have had my afe on (at least 2 years) that thing has never moved. I check mine visually, there is no question when I need to change it. I do alot of gravel/dirt road driving so I clean it monthly or every other month. Prolly time to get another to have on hand.

I still have the stock filter on my truck. After adding the exhaust system, I notice my suck guage would always show about a third (33%) restriction. The truck only has 1900 miles on it and hasn't seen any dusty conditions yet. My mods are very mild and are already showing that the stock filtration system can't keep up with the sucking.

Mine does it also, with things set on kill.):h No prefilter wrap installed.

Mine happens everytime I get on it. Full red. I just don't pay attention to it anymore.
