Well after i am finished with my camaro this winter, i plan on doing this project next year. I have a 47 chevy truck ( or i think thats the right year.... i cant figure it out could be a 49 too?) and i want to look for a duramax engine, to swap in, along with a good transmission. I want to make this a real high performance street truck. But i dont know if a duramax engine will even fit between the wheels....

What do u guys think? Alot of work but i havent seen this done yet... and would be really fun to drive.

the raditor is also another problem, those rads are huge for those engines, so thats another problem...

mikey,

If you haven't already, join me @ www.stovebolt.com. You can find all the necessary information about your chev over there.

I'm in the process of putting a 2004 Duramax in my 1959 Chev. There are a couple of other diesel swaps being done over there as well.

I dont have a Dmax, but I did put a 6.5 in my 58 and there were no mods to the motor mounts or tranny. I used a 4x4 Blazer frame and 700R4 tranny. I used a 454 radiator and had to trim inner fenders a bit to get it in. Pain, but doable.
