The only thing I like better about my new '09 is the integrated braking. It seems to do a lot better job of evenly applying and releasing braking pressure on the trailer. After that it all goes down hill.
It seems as if the transmission has a different shifting pattern. The gaps seem a little larger between shifts - almost seems as if I lug a little at times.
I don't hear that turbo "whistle". Is that normal in the new trucks? When I step it to the floor, it sounds more like a gas truck with low octane fuel. It doesn't seem to drop down in gears as much like my 07. My old one really would take off. Maybe this power thing is all in my head. Does anybody else feel this way.
The front cold weather is a much bigger pain to put on. The dark interior fabric is a magnet for dirt and lint and hard to keep looking nice. The windshield defroster is so centered on the windshield that it isn't adequate in a cold weather snow storm.
I'd appreciate your thoughts. Maybe I just loved the 07 too much. Thanks for your inputs

The sound smell reduction is generally regarded as a good thing. Had diesels all my life so I see it as a that.
Complaints like cold weather cover, hmmm. Easier enough for me, put it in the dryer. Glad I have gray interior, hear you there.
LMM pulls like a champ, improved cooling. If you don't like it sell it and get another LBZ, it's a good truck in its own right as well. Otherwise, enjoy and forget the little things, there's a thread for that already running.

The fabric is one of the big reasons im dumping my 07.5 1lt for a 09 LTZ with leather. Other then that I like the truck. Has alot of dash rattles though.

I don't know about the LBZ, but on the LMM if you floor it from a start it has no real power, but if you roll into it and then punch it, it takes off.

Test drove several lbz and bought lmm, no regrets at all. Like the quiet/clean diesel especially when pulling. Love the looks in and out. Great truck 8 months 7000 miles.

Hmm, guess it's in the eye of the beholder. Not really sure if you're referring to another post where I told someone there are substantial improvements with the 09 lmm over the lly(1st gen) but there are fewer engine/trans benifits going lbz to lmm for sure. Talking stock here- hp and torque similar. lmm dpf so lower mpg on the 09. I'm just not seeing the problems others seem to with the lmm- and that's after a summer of heavy towing over huge grades. I do understand that others want to burn through tires with squealing takeoffs- I like getting some miles from mine. What I don't understand is why these guys with late model trucks that seem very happy with them keep trading for new trucks they seem to hate? Doesn't anyone test drive anymore?

Love my 7.5 LMM. I have had the truck 2.5 years and only got 22k on it and more then half way paid for. Plan on running it for a long time. I have test drove the 09's not much difference from what I took of it:).

the classic trucks have more quality in them far as the interior, my 09 has a dash rattle, heater defrost vents dont go all the way across dash, poor in winter, mpg sucks, pulling performance sucks compared to classics.
