: dodge chipped
kartdude17 06-08-2005, 08:14 PM My buddy just got a new dodge cummins. He got a chip and exhaust and it is an automatic. Im not sure what chip he has, but would a chipped dodge verses my 5/5 edge and exhaust put up a challenge? He doesnt have a tranny or anything so his power from his chip cant be to high. But what do you guys think?
GMC2500HD 06-08-2005, 08:53 PM Well you answered that one yourself, it all depends on what chip he has and how hard he is willing to run it.... But honestly I think you will be able to take him no matter what he is running..

You laugh. I already ran up against a Juiced Dmax and know the comparison.

I never knew you were such a comedian Hoot.
It all depends what chip he has and more importantly how many times he's run it hard.
If he hammered it a few times with a stock tranny I'm sure it's just waiting to get limped, and if the chip is not big enuf to limp the tranny then it's no contest.
Race him and :grd:
kartdude17 06-09-2005, 12:39 AM Ok then hoot, if you've raced a juiced duramax then what was the outcome?
greg24v 06-09-2005, 01:10 AM just wonderin, but why does everybody that owns a d max, think the truck is the friggin holy grail of trucks or somethin. like it cant be beat or something???????????

nitrous_nate 06-09-2005, 01:17 AM I am no Dodge fan but my buddy has the "Crazy Larry" Bully Dog program on his 04.5 Cummins CR with a stock auto tranny and it is pretty freakin fast! I believe it is a 230hp tune and he has had it on it constantly for about a month now and has had no tranny issues yet):h Just thought I might comment on my .2 cents worth Talk to ya later Nate

Just a "see if you can catch me" race. Guy had a big dually. I was losing him in the rearview. We stopped and talked. He had his Juice on 5.
You guys think you got the baddest trucks on the planet. They run great, have an excellent drivetrain but they also have their negatives. None of them were designed to be race vehicles. The best race vehicle is going to be the most car-like ;) Power and speed is fun but doesn't make your truck "better".

OK....that makes more sense...you ran a dually with a stock tranny......and you have an excsb......apples to apples of course. I bet you would put a real spankin on my lly..........:D

No it wasn't a perfect match.... never is. Weight wise I'll bet they aren't far off. My tranny is stock too... only a TST on 5/5.
My truck is a bit bigger than the older ext cab. Four regular doors.
will w 06-09-2005, 08:49 AM oh hoot, you are a glutton for punishment. i will stay neutral on this one. wil

Punish away. Some of you guys think GM is so great that nothing compares. That's a glutton for punishment. ):h
bigbird 06-09-2005, 11:28 AM Who do you think taught d-max guys to be arrogant?

Get a TTS extreme and kick his butt!

Your tranny doesn't de-fuel or limp at all....it just grenades when its had enough. The tst will get yours eventually. In a race with equal weight and equal power you should win against a stock allsion.

Grenade it will. I try and be easy on it for the most part but when I want all of it it gives it... no limpo

SO is there an upgrade in your future or are you just gonna get it fixed under warranty and trade it......:D

No plans dpower. I probably will hang on to this one for a while. Wifey just got the new Buick so we are on a tighter budget. If it tranny goes I'll deal with it when it does. Mean time, it's my daily ride and toy. I'm trying to ride it right down the middle.
kartdude17 06-10-2005, 06:05 PM Thanks for the opinions guys. I will be racing him in the very near future. Ill let you know how it go's.
