Hello!
I drive a 3.0 V6 turbodiesel Isuzu and lately it's been throwing up a code about low boost pressure. It has no power low down or high up the rev range (below 2000 and above 3500 rpm).
Doesn't smoke at all.

Is it a boost sensor problem or a turbo problem? Sticking vanes?

the yr would help info.

and what is it supposed to have for boost psi,and is it a variable turbine unit?

what does book say for rpm max?

It's a 2003 6DE1 unit. Max 5000rpm. Variable geometry turbo :)

It's supposed to have 16psi of boost on idle, but only manages 13psi. On full boost it should have 29psi, but struggles to achieve 26psi.

Have you checked the intercooler tubes, maybe have a leak somewhere?

Had a boost leak on my other turbo diesel and that smoked black like nothing I've seen before. The V6 doesn't smoke even when I floor it on the highway or in 2nd gear.

So no smoke at all? If its a VVT turbo maybe the vanes aren't working correctly? Maybe bad injector pump? Bad injectors? I am not familiar with how an Isuzu ECM is read, I would imagine they have something like the Tech 2 that GM uses, maybe you should take it in and see if something is going on ECM wise.

engine needs fuel to get rpm, little fuel will make low boost/rpm and no smoke, check/replace fuel filter and fuel supply.

jon5212 no...no smoke at all! I recently replaced the suction control valves in the fuel pump even though the fuel pump was in great condition. I had issues with low rail pressure, but that was down to a jammed fuel filter. I also replaced the injectors 5k miles ago. It was running on 5 cylinders and was smoking grey like shit!

The engine uses no oil between services and the only problem that's showing up on Tech2 is Low boost pressure

It's now below zero and the car seems to be going rather well! I'm going to see a friend who has a diagnostic tool so I can check if the boost output has somehow changed.
