What does it mean for a fluid to be blended what is it blended with ,bottle says dex VI is it ok for an Allison

RedG 12-16-2009, 11:28 AM In most cases, a blend is partial synthetic blended with dino. I've used Valvoline Duralube oil in my gassers which is a synthetic blend. I don't know of any blended trans oil, but there may be some. Dex VI is for 06 and up six speed Allisons. Valvoline makes a synthetic Dex VI which is what I use in my Allison. The Allison S/N breaks for use of DEX6 are 6310670488 and 6320784373. Match the first three numbers with your trans serial (probably 632..) then see if your trans is later. A 2006 is probably not as the break was generally lined up with the start of the 2007 Classics. There's quite a bit of information in the "Maintenance and Fluids" forum on this site. As far as being safe for Viton seals, look for a fluid that meets TES-389.
