In most cases, a blend is partial synthetic blended with dino. I've used Valvoline Duralube oil in my gassers which is a synthetic blend. I don't know of any blended trans oil, but there may be some.
Dex VI is for 06 and up six speed Allisons. Valvoline makes a synthetic Dex VI which is what I use in my Allison. Mobil 1 also has a synth.

"Dex VI is for 06 and up six speed Allisons" according to GM anyway...

According to Allison its '07, when they actually changed the seal materials was with 2007 trucks.

I knew there was a serial number cutoff somewhere on the 06's but wasn't sure.
Thanks for the correction.

On my dipstick it reads to use Dex VI only. The fluid I was looking at is the Castrol Syntech brand would it be ok to use?

Your dipstick was printed by GM before they knew there was an issue with Viton seals.

The Allison S/N breaks for use of DEX6 are 6310670488 and 6320784373. Match the first three numbers with your trans serial (probably 632..) then see if your trans is later. A 2006 is probably not as the break was generally lined up with the start of the 2007 Classics.

There's quite a bit of information in the "Maintenance and Fluids" forum on this site.

As far as being safe for Viton seals, look for a fluid that meets TES-389. Or spend the money and buy a TES-295 synthetic.
