yeah, that is pretty impressive...
the engines i work on make a little more hp, are a little bigger, and turn a little slower...
currently, the most hp we have in our pool of locomotives is 4500hp flywheel and it comes from a ge 16 fdl... 45° vee... 668ci per hole [10,688ci total] 9" piston, 10 or 11" stroke [i can't remember for sure] electronic unit pumps for fuel... single turbocharger with dual outlets on the compressor side feeding dual air to water charge air coolers... turns 1050rpm, and i know it can make some good hp, as i have seen one of these with a broken conrod and piston jammed up near tdc in the liner, make full hp, with 5' flames out the stack, and one wicked nasty engine viberation..

I say we all get together and design a pickup for that to fit into.:ro)

Pretty impressive Nick!!! I love the big guns as much as I love my Duramax. I wonder what Gale Banks could do with these powerplants?):h

Those GE engines are amazing...
Only one problem with them though.
You can't own one. (Unless something recently changed with the company)
If its as it was before, if you buy a locomotive, you are technically leasing it. GE wants that motor back when you are done with it...
I have no idea what a guy would do with one sitting in his backyard, but damn would it be cool to have it there anyway. :D

I'd have the neighborhoods most Kick A** generator if they gave me one. The central air would be set at 60 degrees and the garage would be 70 in the winter.
