I will most likely be installing this kit on my 2005 2500HD, but before I do it would be nice to hear from a few of you who have it installed. (My game plan is to install 285's on aftermarket 8X16 wheels. ) Any problems/failures? Is your drive like stock? Better?

Thanks in advance.

Runninhorn, Buck, 8.1Gasser have it installed. I am sure there are more. Do a search and you will find plenty to read. I am putting mine on next week.

The ride is better than stock..hands down..you should be fine with 285's and 16x8's as long as you follow Cognito's specs on rim backspacing.

I did mine with the dual front shock hoops up front you should have no problems with the 285s I did the green keys and 2" blocks in the rear but I was triyng to get a little more rake in the rear for towing, FWIW I ran my 295's on the truck for a lil over a month before I put this kit on. If you have a pickle fork to remove the front ball joints it will help I managed with a crow bar but it wasnt easy. All in all not a bad install took me about a day but I had some things I needed to figure out since I didn't have the exact right tools for the job. Good luck

8.1 also has a 3 inch body lift... His truck looks badass... Although I liked the old wheels better. ;)

Runninghorn, Your ride looks :cool2: !! I'm still kicking the idea around H2's (315x17's) or an aftermarket rims 305 and staying w/ 16's. I'm going to order up a Cognito 3" leveler and maybe even some green keys. With your set up on H2's how much did you have to trim ... are you getting any rubbing? A little help...?

According to Cognito the backspacing should be 4.5 or less. Mine are much more (5.75) but bigger wheels (18). I wished I could install the kit but I am afraid it will not fit. How close is the A-Arm to the wheel with 4.5 inches of BS?
Thanks!:ro)

You may want to call Justin@Cognito and ask...I have heard that he redesigned the UCA to work better with the H2 rims which are 5.5" BS.

Thanks, will contact him again. Justin told me in Feb. 05 that my combo will rub and I need spacers (1 inch) which I don't like.
If 5.5 BS is OK on a 17 inch wheel I think 5.75 BS on a 18 inch wheel cannot be a big problem.:ro)

5.75 is starting to get really close! I don't think 18" rims with that backspacing will work with the Cognito kit. The top of my rim is even with the UCA on my truck. A 1/2" taller radius isn't going to get you out of the way, I don't think! I think you would have to go to 20" rims to clear.

The only way to know for sure is to try it.

Thanks for the info! If there is only an easy way to try. Might try but maybe go with a bigger lift kit, no worth the headache otherwise.

Here's a question for the guys running the cognito, has anybody drag raced with them on?
I have been thinking of getting it for awhile, but worried about dropping the torsion bars at the track with it.

As long as you have stock keys cranked up and not green keys you should be ok to drop it like normal.. Alignment might be off then a little more than before, but it always will be when you let it down to race anyway...

No green keys on the truck, Im 3/4 the way cranked & almost level. I know the alignment will end up off when down.

I figured Id ask before I spend $500 & find out the hard way. I'll ask when I order them.

I ordered my leveling kit a few weeks ago and they charged my credit card but then told me they were back ordered on the kit. I still do not have mine yet. You should call prior to your order and make sure they have them in stock for the 2500HD.

As far as drag racing/pullin, NOT a problem. I remove the T-bar adjuster bolts and toss them in the tool box. Cv axles & tie rods are perfectly level on my truck with this setup. Clamp the rear springs and your ready to rock:ro) I should get some pics of it. It looks mean with 4" of rake and 35's.
