HELP. My 98 GMC with 6.5 diesel surges when you apply the throttle. its like the trottle is an on off switch. the faster you go the worse it gets. if the truck is under load it runs fine but down hill or under no load it jerks. The prob seems to get a little better when warm but over 45 it doesn't matter what the temp is.

It's time to replace the injector pump. That reads like a broken fuel solenoid screw and fuel metering is in nascar mode.
Thanks for the reply Quantum, Should i hock the house. What does an injector pump cost?
It does seem to have great acceleration at wot.

Rebuilt pumps start at ~$700 and new ~$1000.

Or roll the dice on an auction pump, and pray they're honest.

honest or not, you just don't get 'good' pumps at actions, good cores at best.

I looked at my dad's '96 and it has the same problem and I'm pulling the IP tomorrow.
OK,I changed the filter, and the PMD with no change. You need an extra PMD anyway.
NAPA wants 1,000.00 for a reman pump so i orderd a new one from a GM dealer for 1,100.00 . I'll let you know how it turns out......GEO
