Has anyone done this before?. I just bought a 1995, 3500 with the 5 speed manule it has a 6.5 TD but there is coolent in the oil therefor i picked it up dirty cheep. Hoping it is only head gaskets, but if not i was looking for long block 6.5 well doing so i found a sorce for 2001-2004 Durmax long blocks with wireing harness, ECM, Fuel system, heads, and manifolds for $4,500. So i would need to a turbo. i am wondering what it would take to get the 6.6 into the tuck. Would the tranny work? mounting? cooling system? So far this is just a thought just looking your ur guys thoughts

a member here thefermanator swapped a Duramax into his 1995 Suburban. 4WD too. PM him, or he may have a thread here or at TTS. Very clean install done by himself.

is your truck 2wd or 4?

If its 2wd and you are gonna go ahead with the Dmax swap, I will buy the nv4500 trans from you. let us know.

Yep, I done one. Theres a thread over at TTS about it. I will say this, if I had it to do over again I would have kept the 6.5 and put an *** on it and done it up. The DMAX swap is nice, but it is VERY expensive and just about requires a donor truck to do the swap right. There will be MANY parts that you will need besides just the engine and harness to make this work, and the donor truck makes it possible.
