: Name these center caps
TEXMudder 06-07-2005, 10:25 PM Can anyone tell me what these center caps are off of:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7978327690&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
Granted they are a GMC with 8 lugs, they arent offered now and appear to fit the H2 wheels perfectly. Any insight here guys?
AndrewFessler 06-07-2005, 11:12 PM THose look like they are off of the older 90s series 2500s.
GMC2500HD 06-07-2005, 11:13 PM Andrew is correct, those are off the late model series trucks. I don't think they look good on those wheels personally.. Just my opinion though..
TEXMudder 06-07-2005, 11:17 PM They cant look much worse than the PYO caps... If I can identify a year maybe I can see if they come in grey.
CottonWoodBlues 06-08-2005, 08:36 AM I wonder how he got them to fit inside his H2's? I tried a fit these into mine and they were too big. Does anyone else use them in their H2's? And if so, how did you get them to fit? Did you make the wheel center openining bigger or turn down the outter edges of the lug nut cover? I'd be interested to know so that I could use them in my H2's as they are a lot easier tho wash and keep clean than the centers out the PYO's.TIA.

TEXMudder 06-08-2005, 10:05 AM I am actually thinking of doing this:

That is grey center caps attached to the H2 caps so that there is no gap at the edge. I put my PYO ones in the wheel and just cant stand that jap around the edge let alone the color difference.
8.1GASSER 06-08-2005, 06:47 PM Those don't look right...heres a pic of mine prior to going to Weld's..these are obs caps that have been spun on a lathe to reduce their depth..they fit perfectly in to the outer lip of the H2 wheels.

CottonWoodBlues 06-08-2005, 07:29 PM Thanks, 8.1. That pretty well puts an answer to my question. As for how those caps look on your chrome/ polished H2's, I think you're right. At least in the photo. How 'bout in the cold hard light of day? Do they look as mismatched as the photo suggests? I know a short while back there were threads about aftermarket center caps for the PYO's and /or H2's but I don't recall how that washed. At some point I'll probably just bite the bullet and get some nice aftermarket wheel$$$. It's always something.

TEXMudder 06-08-2005, 10:13 PM "Obs" is that the wheel code? Do they make them in grey? Those look better than the PYOs.
wing'n'it 06-08-2005, 11:39 PM I've been trying to figure out for a couple of months now how some folks report no problem in getting their OEM center caps to fit H2 takeoffs, and then I bought my wheels and the caps diameter was 3/8" too big. Is it a Chevy v GMC deal, or maybe OEM aluminium v OEM steel? I guess I just have to find someone with a lathe 'cause using a cutting bit on my drill press just doesn't do it!
TEXMudder 06-08-2005, 11:46 PM alum vs steel. The aluminum (PYO) caps are a little smaller. Mine fit right in the wheels. The steel ones are just a hair wider.
wing'n'it 06-09-2005, 01:37 PM TexMudder, thanks for the info. Could you post, or PM, me the p/n of your caps? I found a place in Southern Cal that can match up the caps if I have a p/n.
BTW, I am a former Plano resident. Lived 78-86 near Custer/Spring Creek then again 98-00 at Legacy/Independence. Was a great place to raise kids.
Mike:)
TEXMudder 06-09-2005, 02:49 PM I'm a few miles from Legacy/Independence. I dont have any part numbers yet. I have the PYO wheels now but I am looking for a better look. I'll post more when I find what I want.

Scroll down it's the smallest diameter cap that goes on our trucks. CHVC34 I think this is hubcaps.com order #. They should be able to get you a GM part# if you call them. I ordered two from them earlier this year, and had good luck with them.
From those of you wearing H2 shoes ... where did you get them and is it a good fit? I'm looking to upgrade tires (285 or 305's) and maybe aftermarket rims. What's best ... does the chrome hold up on the H2's or am I better off looking into a weld? A Little help..?

Ugly wheel and center cap - fit perfectly together.......
TEXMudder 06-10-2005, 11:50 PM I cant say I like the looks of those, but I wanted to find anything that may look better than PYO caps....

I just put a post in the want to buy section here. ebay also has a ton of them. The biggest down size is the tire selection. There are very few 17 inch tires and even fewer ones with any sort of weight rating.
