About a month or so ago I had posted a few threads about changing my fuel filter. After taking the filter off i went to prime the engine back with the primer on the fuel filter housing. After at least 150 pumps i still wasnt getting fuel. I finally came to the conclusion i needed a new fuel filter housing. After alking with the guys at merchant automotive, they suggested to use a shop vac to prime it. Well, it worked...has anyone else has to do this or had a problem priming there engine after a filter change? some people have told me they are a pain and some have told me it takes them less than 10 pumps to get fuel. Suggestions, reccomendations?

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with the fuel filter housing post

My buddy just had the same problem, but he runs bio and I think that was part of it being we got a cold snap and he was at a 90/10 mix.

Ever seen the youtube video of the guy siphoning gas from a car he was restoring with a shop vac? Caught the vac on fire and all heck broke loose burning everything up.

Perhaps a simple hand vacuum pump like you'd bleed brakes with might work as well. Where did you pull from with the vac?

I never thought about fire but at the time i was just wanting to get my truck home but it is a good point. i'm not sure what the technical name is but i pulled from what i call the fuel rail pressure relief at the front of the engine. i hate to keep having to do this everytime i change the fuel filter
