There is a way but I do not remember what to search for exactly. My way is to disconnect the switch in the door at the door latch section. That is where the door activates the door chime with key. For me if I want to leave door open and key in is flip the latch closed by using my finger like the door be closed around the latch pin. But you have to open the door handle first to open the latch back up before closing door or it just bounce off the door latch pin. But I think there is a different way.

I want to permanately want to disable them not false latch it. Just wondering if it can be done on the NBS like I found that people have done on the old bodystyle by removing a pin from the harness by the steering column.

I have a sneaking suspicion it requires a Tech2 programming tool. If this bugs you that much, you can ask your dealer about it.

I disabled mine for a day then i reconnected the wire cause when i would open the door the radio wouldnt turn off(well ok it turns off eventually but not as soon as i open the door like it should) but if your interested mine is an 09 i can tell you what wire i cut, but like i say after i did it i decided it would rather do the false latch when i didnt wanna hear the beeping. the only thing i can think of is if you hooked up a push button in the door panel so that when you pulled the lever it would reconnect the wire for a second turning off the radio. or maybe your onto something with a wire on the steering column make it not know whether there is a key in the ignition then it should still turn the radio of when the door is opened i would think

^^ you could even take that wire and wire it to a switch and install it under or on the dash to turn it on and off. I sure could of did without a chime while coyote hunting

i just found in my manual you can adjust the volume of the chimes, but my problem is i do not have the DIC controls!!!!mine is just a WT model. the information may be useful to someone else. page 3-81 in my 2009 manual

Yes the hunting is the biggest reason. The chime volume on its lowest setting is still quite loud for my taste.

Rick could you please let me know the what and where of the wire please.

I did it awhile back. I cut a wire inside the door. I'll see if I can't find the thread.

The one i cut was on the inside fuse box. its a gray wire with a black stripe on it comming out of the LT DR plug. to make sure you got the right plug just unplug the whole thing and see if the chime stops. this wire is the one for the door latch so your speaker will still work fine. but like i say radio will stay on when you open the door.

NBS....Like everyone eles has said the truck does not know when the door is open. The only real down side to cutting that wire is the alarm won't work on that door. The wire I cut you have to take the door panel
off. It be easier to find that other wire their talking about. I musta missed that one cause I thought I checked all the wires going into the door before I took the panel off.

I like all this info, but is everyone addressing the original question?
I assume 2007 and older are different, 2007.5 up are nbs

Correct, on the older body style you could just cut a green wire behind the driver's side knee panel.

thanks jtaylor. I read that thread before I started this thread, I was hoping someone found the "magic" wire under the dash.

I will continue to search for which wire it is in the steering column cause I really want to disable mine. i cant find a wiring guide anywhere online. does anyone know where to get them for free? or are all the sites that actually have the newer model vehicles pay sites?

Yes there is a TSB posted here somewhere that tells the dealer how to turn that feature off.

On edit here is the post:http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2438252&postcount=4

Process is the same for LMMs - had it done to mine, but it doesn't show up as an option in the DIC like the older trucks. It just turns off the autolock function.

I had the dealer remove mine the same time they lowered the air pressure warnings for the tire pressure monitor.
