Looking for a set of four, forged or chrome steel wheels rated for 3500#/ea. I was going to buy the Alcoa forged for 7000# dexter axles only they are on a long back order! These are going on a 12K# race trailer and need to look nice.
Any leads would be apreciated as I cannot find any other brands, TIA

Might want to try a place called Redneck Trailer supplies. I believe the link is www.redneck-trailer.com

Or maybe some GM aluminum takeoff's. that way it would match your rig if your still running stock wheels.

Southwest is the one who explained the lengthy backorder on the Alcoa's to me. Redneck does not offer a high enough rated wheel I would be interested in, Thanks though.
Are the oem alloys a high enough rating for a 7000lb. axle? forged or cast?

Stock OEM alloys are forged. They must be rated pretty high because they come factory with 3K+ pound rated tires, so they can handle at least 6K on an axle, and probably more. I would think you would be fine with them on a 7K pound axle.
If you are thinking steel, the 3500 SRWs come with a chromed steel wheel that is a 16x7 rim.
Either way, they should be pretty cheap because a lot of people get rid of them for aftermarket. You may be able to get a complete set of takeoffs and just bolt them right up, tires and all.
Ford rims are also the same bolt pattern, but then again it is a ford rim, and we all know what happened to the Ford Exploder. Oh wait, that was the tires......

Dodge has the same bolt pattern as our trucks, the older fords had the same size but now ford use a metric size.
Only problem w/ our rims (PYO) are they have a small center hole and may need machined to fit.
Dodge has the larger center hole like the older GM's had.

I doubt any OEM wheels would fit unless your trailer is way different than mine. The backspace on OEM wheels is way higher than you will likely be able to use on your trailer without some thick wheel spacers. My gooseneck has 7200 lb dexter axles and I considered running my PYOs on it untill I measured the offset of the wheels that came on the trailer. The PYOs are high positive offset while the trailer wheels are high negative offset.

I believe my trailer wheels to be "0" offset.
I was told Ford is bying every wheel Alcoa can make right now (the ones that will fit the 7000# axle) thus the backorder of over 1000 wheels already.
Thanks for the input....

If you have a 12K trailer with 7k axles why are you wanting 3500lb rims when all you really need is 3000lb rims which would be the capacity of the trailer?

Good question...my weights do have some variables depending on load, but mostly peice of mind that the wheels are not my weak link.

I will do some checking around here locally to see if anybody has some for you. If they do i will post thier number so you can contact them. I deal with alot of different people because I install trailer hitches and repair trailers.
