Has anyone put bigger injectors in their LLY yet? I saw a set of 80 or 100hp ones in a US DIESEL PARTS catalog I got in the mail. Didn't know if it was maybe a miss print or not. The ones for the LB7 were the same horsepower rating but they were cheaper.

Yes. I know of someone with bigger sticks in an LLY.
Send Stefan a PM.

Try to get him to post his info here. We are all curious.

I can't do that.

You might notice I have no sig. Part of that was from having a scrolling sig relating to DTT and my mods that seemed to upset some members and moderators which resulted in having my PM privledges clipped (since restored) and signature permanently removed until such time as I do not cause more 'trouble' or apologize. Oddly enough there was nothing in the site rules about the use of HTML tags in a signature line. But I broke the unwritten rule. Three times no less.

Being that is the case; email would better serve the purpose. Or a direct call to Stefan. Their number is on their website, although they pay to advertise here they have no 'clickable link' in the vendors area last time i looked.

their site address is www.dieseltrans.com

Juice,

i suggest you don't cry poor me. you put a marquee in your sig. Chad asked you to remove it, you didn't, so he did. then you proceeded to put it back not once but twice. sounds like we gave you a few chances.
:rules:

and how does not having a sig prevent you from contacting DTT? its not like we took away your email account or your telephone...

should you wish to discuss this further i suggest you use your email or pm function.

thank you

Granted I have even posted as much about it . No crying allowed. I won't be part or party to being conservative with the truth either. And I had it there 3 times, playing around with the html tags at the wee hours of the morning. If it is such a big deal, it might make a good addition to the rules per se.

and how does not having a sig prevent you from contacting DTT? its not like we took away your email account or your telephone... Does not prevent me from contacting DTT I have had a few PM's about contacting them from other members, and it behooves me to provide the information to them in the PM format. Just a little time consuming for me

should you wish to discuss this further i suggest you use your email or pm function.

I can PM once again! So one day i may elect to take you up on the offer. If you want we can discuss the ramifications of the golden rule and making them up as we go along

thank you

I will have the newest set of Kennedy's in by 6 tonight. I believe they are still extrudes, but they are now CC balance flowed to assure equal delivery on all cylinders. More on output and smoke etc. by tonight...T

So.....we are just gonna keep top secret on all of this....or is someone gonna give some insight. How are these guys getting around the 1093......seems to me that these would make it worse. Also horsepower wise what are they making....can the vvt clean the fuel up without any spray?

This secret crap is for the birds.

If you are doing "secret" mods, let them stay secret.

The rest of us will test things and report the results.

It might be for the birds, but it is beneficial to share the fact that there are a couple trucks with EDM's out there.

It helps for people that want sticks but are on the fence wether to wait for the EDM or go to what is currently out there. We all want to spend our money once, and God willing, wisely.

Performance numbers will surely be along soon. The thread was posing the question and it has been addressed.

There is nothing to get in a panty twist about. Some would be in a twist not knowing they are out there, some are in a twist because now they know.

Either way, you are gonna have a Happy/Gilmore split about it.

Here's the issue:

Are injectors available? Yes.
Do they increase HP on LLY's? Buy them and find out.

That was covered by the initial post, even pricing info. The other posts about "so-and-so" are running secret injectors are pointless, as they aren't going to say whether they are a good idea or not.

This is becoming more and more common on this board. However since this is a Tech board, spamming it with the mention of secret parts appears to be nothing more than a way for certain advertisers to get you to call them.

Wanna REALLY stir the pot? You can get injector tips for LLY's made for $25 each from a company that does nothing but injector tips for Bosch Common Rail and other design diesel injectors. No exchange, outright.

So for those who are lusting after "secret" injectors, be aware that the price might fall dramatically in the next couple of months.

Interesting info Pat. Still nothing on performance characteristics....doesn't surprise me though. I think everbody makes the mistake at least on one vehicle of adding useless performance parts to their vehicle. I know I have. You know....the cart before the horse type of deal. Adding injectors to an lly would be like adding gas to a fire. Our egt's are though the roof as it is with just programming. Making injectors worthless to most. You can't just unplug them when not at the track...certainly can't tow with them unless you had more air.....which.....unless you are one of the privliged few who have twins its a no go. (still no info on that subject either......good or bad.) This is with out even addressing the fuel system issue. What happens if the injectors get put in and it starts 1093'in all over the place. Now, you have to take them out....and its not gonna take 2 mins like a box. Basically there are things that need to be sorted out before injectors become a feasible option. Sooner or later it will happen. But.....hoarding info helps us get no where. Just my opinion.....

Actually, a propery designed EDM injector will run hundreds of degrees cooler than a honed injector and in the Common Rail Cummins we run an average of 150 degrees cooler than STOCK injectors:cool2: On heavy fueled trucks we really see a drop of EGT. Around 250 degrees. Economy can go through the roof. 600 HP and 20 MPG if the owner drives easily has been done.

I only just finished the LLY prototypes this week. They wont even be installed until next week. The truck has twin turbos, so I might actually need a larger injector, but it is a first step and with the success of the Common Rail injectors in the Cummins, I think we will have it licked in 6 months with lots of luck. I hope so anyway. Its a long road to get the injectors just right and tested. It took us 14 months for the Cummins.

I have been in this for too many years now on the Cummins side and have seen every trick in the book; from cheap Chinese crap made from weak alloys that costs just under 5 dollars per nozzle, dealers selling injectors and telling people the injectors they are buying are mine, and the flood of the mass produced change e'm yourself stuff for half the cost. All any of the scams have done is to strengthen what we do when the owners experience unsatisfactory results.

The DMAX project was undertaken to hopefully offer a product that makes a difference. No hype BS or driveability issues. With the number of SETS of injectors we have produced for the Cummins closer to 1000 than 500 and no issues I think we can do it. It just takes time and patience to make it happen. I need a stronger knowledge of the LLY as well.

If anyone knows me, they know I take my time to test, test, test. I cant reflash your injectors like a box manufacturer or have a recall on them. Its just too much work for the owner to change 'em out. Not close enough to perfect, but perfect. It has to be in a Common Rail system.

I dont have a public phone number to post, an axe to grind with any other vendor of injectors, and I am not trying to spur interest for sales. Just letting everyone know that; yes we are working on them as I stated a few months back and one day with luck, will have something. More goes wrong in testing than goes right and it has not even begun in ernest yet.

So Don are you going to do Lb7 injectors or just LLY ones?

Don M
06-09-2005, 08:07 PM
I am slowly and I mean slowly working on both types. The nozzles unfortunantly are not interchangeable between engine types. Same situation in the Cummins of different years and power ratings that use the Common Rail system.:(

Now that was an INFORMATIVE post on the subject, thanks! :ro)

Was getting tired of the "a friend of my uncle's barber has some".

It will be of significant interest if bigger injectors will make the P1093 problem worse or better.

OK, in and done. No Edge or anything to check EGT's, BUT, if the Edge or Predator is really 100hp, these feel stronger than that. Smoke is about like the (non Hot) XCelerator. Won't have dyno #'s til next week, but pulling Saturday with all other goodies should tell a pretty good story. So far they rock, and install was pretty easy too (4 1/2 hours for a first timer)...T
