Has anyone widen the stock rims to 8". Can it be done ?
I wanted the stock look, but need wider tires in the rear.
I do not want aftermarket or H2 wheels and prefer to stay with a 16" rim.
I can accomplish all by widening the two rear rims.

With a load, that would scare the crap out of me. I have no idea if it can be done but considering how brittle Aluminum is, I would expect a lot of stress.

Thought so, but aren't all/your H2s 17" rims ?

I am wanting to stay with a 16" tire for drag racing, but would like a wider tire for the rear only. I only want to replace the rear wheels
(to save dollars), and also, I do not want to increase tire height.
I think I need the wall flex a 16" will give vs the 17" rim.
It's a racing preference.

I am Chasing a combo that may not exist unless I go aftermarket wheels. I have had so many sets of aftermarket wheels and nearly 1 wheel out of 4 do not balance worth a flip.

However, H2s may be the way to go.

You can get aluminum 16x10"s for about $130 ea.

A set of 285x70-17 will be approximately the same height, but will offer shorter, stiffer side walls. Too good of a deal to pass up!!!

Actually I saw in your original post that you wanted to stay with 16's, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to give you a little grief. :D
