I've had my 03 3500 Duramax/6spd for a couple of months now and have been hearing a rattling noise from the bellhousing area when slightly pushing in the clutch pedal. My truck only has 53,000 miles and I also purchased the Major Guard so I figured I should be able to get this fixed under warranty. When I took it into the dealer for repair they called me back and told me that the noise is coming from the flywheel and it is acceptable/ nothing wrong as they all make that noise. I didn't believe them as this noise is very annoying, so I searched on this site and came up with the bulletin about noisy flywheels needing to be replaced. I then called back the service dept and told them about this bulletin and he said he knew about it but they still were not replacing my flywheel. So far I have called Chevy cust support and they told me no also. I then called for the owner of the dealership to schedule an appt to talk with him and his seceratary gave me the brush off.

My question is, is this truly nothing to be concerned about and I just have to live with the noise. If not how can I get them to fix my truck so I can get back to enjoying it. Who else could I call or write to get get the results I am looking for. Being in Alaska I don't have a whole lot of choice but to deal with two gm dealers. This one had been the better of the two until now.

Thank you for any input.

Where are you located, if you are in southern calif., I will send you to dealers that will replace the flywheel. G.M. is (suppossidly) Coming out with a solid flywheel and ceramettallic disc to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the information on a possible GM update. I will keep informed and will be first inline up here to get it replaced when and if it is available. Is this the best place to look for update info such as that? I doubt my dealer will let me know if there is a fix like that available since have problably pissed them off by now.
I live just outside of Anchorage, Alaska so I am kind of stuck for now. I pushed the issue a little further with the service manager and he told me since the vehicle has already had the flywheel replaced with the updated flywheel that they will not replace it since there is no fix available.

Make sure you have the latest flywheel. I had mine replaced twice. All three flywheels had different part numbers. I've got the latest, but don't know the p/n for it. Make sure, then they can replace it if it isn't the latest part.
