Is it in charge of the fuel, or just additional information for emissions control?

maf mass air flow. sends a signal to pcm regarding air flow. all sensoes round off to one big end result . what comes out the tail pipe.had a truck this week with 3 codes set for fuel temp. ended up being a k&n air filter plugged and mass air sensor reading was scued. a log story but its just anothe sensor to make emissions ok

With a gas motor, you can control the amount of fuel injected into the motor by tweaking the MAF.


I doubt it works the same with a diesel, but it would be very interesting if it did.
