: Fuel Filter Cartridge?

I stopped by Advance Auto last night to pick up a fuel filter on the way home. What they sold me doesn't look anything like what I need. They gave me a filter with no housing on the outside of it. It's just a paper filter with a giant o-ring. I asked the guy when he sold it to me, and he said it's just a cartridge replacement, but when I look at the DIY section on here for a fuel filter change, it doesn't look anything like that! The part number is a Purolator F55360. Can anyone tell me what part number I'm supposed to have?

Kevin fill out your sig so we will know what kind of vehicle you have. Off hand I would say that the sales clerk sold you the wrong filter. I have always used donaldson filter's and they have never changed.

It's filled out now. I've been meaning to do that for so long. Good thing I don't procrastinate!!

Kevin he sold you the wrong one. Wix-33910 will take care of you. Advance should have these. They are good filter's, but I have always used Donaldson's P-550743 never had a problem at all with them. :) Good luck.

If you have never changed the filter before-- I suggest you read the Sticky at the top of this section before you start. There are several important steps that you must do to make the job go OK.

If you start it before you bleed it- you will has a bitch of time to get it running again.

Also don't forget you can order all your filters from Fleetfilter.com. Their prices are much better than the auto stores.

Fleetfilter.com now says to use the Wix 33960 (http://www.fleetfilter.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=1318&catid=) instead of of a 33910.

Has anyone used this yet?
