I am New and this is my first post here. I own a "02" DURAMAX WITH ALLISON TRANSMISSION with 83,000 mi..I have had a problem with it lately. It started when I was pulling a light bumper pull trailer with a 500 pound holstein bull in it. It didn't seem to shift correctly and if it wasn't an automatic I would of thought the clutch was slipping. Basically it was revving up and taking off slowly as if it was starting in 2nd or 3rd. The transmission temp was higher then normal and the SES light came on, then the ABS and parking brake warning lights came on also.
As soon as I could unload and dump the trailer I did. I had an emergency call to make so had to leave right away. It seemed as if it was starting out in 2nd and the clutch was slipping. I stopped and checked the transmission fluid and it was clean and had a normal level.
I went on to my call and when I left and headed home the speedometer started flying all over the place. Eventually it down shifted to first and stayed there for the rest of the trip home at 10 mph. Luckily my client lived close to me.
I parked it for 36 hours, and when I got home tonight I took it to auto-Zone to have the SES analyzed. It ran fine down there, but the three warning lights were still on, but the truck shifted normally. After the analysis all the warning lights went off and the truck ran fine. The warning codes were P 0500, P 0700, P 0721, P 0776, and P 0700 again.
I downloaded a copy of the DTC's and I think that instead of P 0776 it was P 0746 because the read out said Pressure control solenoid perfomance or stuck off.
Is this just a speed sensor switch going bad? Hard for me to believe that all could go bad at the same time. Anyone who has experienced or has experience with this problem, their opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Mike

BTW, this is a great site, Didn't know there were so many duramax addicts. Been a GM truck owner for 30 years. Hope they get the bugs out of these babies cause they are great trucks , just a few minor glitches that shut the "Censoreding" thing down.

Check output speed sensor and harness.

THanks Mike, the harness maybe a good thing to check out also. Every now and then as I am accelerating it sounds like something is slapping against the firewall. Thanks again. Mike :help2:
