I am looking for something to help de-ice the windshield in the winter. Not in the morning but while I am driving. My wipers get covered in snow/ice and the windshield starts to ice over. I have tried heated fluid and it did not help enough, I have also tried heated wipers and they were better but not great. What I am thinking is a defroster on the front like I have on the back but not covering all the windshield. Maybe something on the bottom 4 inchs and top 4 inchs.

Please give me any and all good ideas.

Thanks
Trent

Full defrost and the fan on high doesn't help?

Have you tried de-icer washer fluid? I use the rain-x washer fluid that's orange, has bug remover and de-icer in one since I need both from day to day in the Midwest ($3 at wallyworld). Love the stuff and it keeps the rain-x fresh too so I don't have to do the windshield as often. It will melt some pretty thick ice and does a great job of keeping my window clean when driving down a nasty icy highway. When we get sleet here, the defroster alone won't keep up but that fluid will.

I've been looking at that also, there is another one like it that looks close. I am about to replace the windshield and think I will do it then. Good Call.

Thanks

Full defroster doesn't even come close to melting the wiper or windshield when it is real cold.

I have not tried the De-ice washer fluid. I have a big problem with fluid freezing in the line. I am going to extend the line under the hood and wrap it around the antifreeze line coming off the top of the motor. That should help keep it hot but even with a hot shot the line was freezing.

Thanks for your help. I will look for the rain-x stuff.
