12000K? My first recommendation would be to send the kit back and get 6-6500K so you actually have usable light instead of purple/pinkish light.
Also, the housings in that year are awful and no matter how carefully you aim the lights you are going to be putting a lot of glare into the eyes of oncoming traffic.
Other than that, the kit should have come with at least basic instructions, but in a nutshell depending on the kit you either just plug it inline in your existing headlight circuit, or on some of the better kits there will also be power feed harness with relays that you need to hook to the battery terminals. Other than having to run a couple extra wires, for the most part both are fairly plug and play. You just need to find a good spot on each side of the vehicle to mount the ballasts, zip tie anything that looks loose, and you'll be good to go.
Falk65 12-07-2009, 05:00 PM I have already Installed them and i got a bluish light at first start but perfect white when they have warm up.I have put in a new Light housing with it Euro style and it looks awesome and i have been a passenger in car and let other drive my car against me and it do not glare at all will put picture of it but it works fine in Snow Blizzard and that is i use this car mostly driving when weather is Bad and heavy snowing :) Thats is how we lives in Iceland :)

True 12000K bulbs are NOT white - not even close. If you live in Iceland or anywhere where you get real winter, you should be running 4300K at the highest.

Aren't those VVME kits just plug and play?
nwtdiesel 12-07-2009, 11:11 PM I have 12000 in my headlights and fogs. I use them everyday and i actualy just got done driving in a snow storm. They work great and are very purple.
Heres a pic of the headlights in the day time......
Falk65 12-08-2009, 09:01 AM I know i have a blue in other kit i installed in a Silverado 2006 but those bulbs are diffrence and the color name on the Box is Super White Sunbeam and they are far away from being purple or blue after they warm up more like white with a little blue in

They claim to be plug and play, I wont know until x-mas. I might crack the box open to take a look while she at work this weekend.
bersh 12-08-2009, 11:49 AM Grabbed this off another site - pretty good demo of the various colors.

They may work, but a cooler temp will work much better. The cooler the color temp the less it reflects back off of snow & rain. It's actually deceiving as because you have less light bouncing back off the weather, they don't appear as bright. In reality, if you actually look at how far down the road you can see, the cooler temps cut through the weather a bit better.
nwtdiesel 12-08-2009, 02:05 PM Cool, well i like my 12k and i can see just fine with them in the snow. Eitherway they are WAY WAY brighter than over the counter Autozone Silverstars.
I have a set of 8k bulbs too and it takes about 2 minutes to switch the bulbs out on the 04 dmax. I like the 12k's alot better.
What set do you have Bersh? Post up a pic.
GetSome8.1HD 12-08-2009, 07:09 PM All in all...5000K is the best temp out there period. There is a difference between 5 and 6 for sure as Im going back to 5's cause they arent as blue. I dont want super blue...looks gay to me :D
With 12K you are decreasing your Lumens (light output...brightness) by the output of what a normal halogen outs out. So with a 4300K kit your ~ at 3200 lumens. At 12,000K you are ~ at 2100K. A 5000K kits is ~ 2900-3000 Lumens. This is all rough estimates as bulbs differ. So you still twice as much as halogens but your decreasing what you can actually see.
Falk65 12-08-2009, 07:49 PM Is this Purple or Blue no i feel it like more Whitishblue :) he he
Ok then Light Blue but far away from blue or Purple

What difference does it make what kind of lights I'm running? It has no bearing on this thread, my responses, or my knowledge. I've been messing with lights for 25 years and have tried/used/discarded more lights/bulbs/gimmicks than most. I've lived in the U.P. of Michigan for over 20 years, and I know what works in snow and what doesn't. If you are happy with your lights, that's fine. You just need to be aware that there are a lot better/safer/more useful options.
As far as adding the lights for looks instead of function - never mind, I'm not going there.

Never been pulled over for my 12k's and the cops hate my truck around here... You guys are the ones running the better brighter HID lights that attract more attention when your blinding people on the road:eek:
To each their own
Yes, thats why its America.

Look, i know the 12k's arent the brightest. Duh, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. I did it for the looks and they are still brighter than the stock POS halogens. I spent my money on parts i wanted so dont worry about it. Thats great you are a experienced light expert pro fanatic and im not taking that away from you... i just like to hear from the people who actualy own the products being discussed in the topic.

Like I said, I'm happy that you like them. That's not the point of my posts. Whether or not I own HID, LED, HIR, or candles is irrelevant. It doesn't matter what the light source is, it doesn't matter if they are brighter than stock bulbs or not - that color temperature doesn't perform well in weather, period. If you are that self-conscious that anytime someone comments on your purple headlights you have to get so defensive, then maybe you shouldn't be hanging out on forums bragging about your lights.
